Q:I'm having a difficult time making the thermocouple stay put, with or without the metal clip. The hole in the pilot bracket is bigger than the metal clip. Am I supposed to open the flaps on the sides of the metal clip to make the thermocouple unmovable? Can I put the metal clip on top of the pilot bracket, next to the pilot light? The pilot light might be burning the metal clip, not sure.

A:  I too experienced the same issue. i had to return it. Bought a honeywell thermocouple, and it fit very sung.

A:  Unfortunately, I wouldn't really be able to speak on this if your having trouble, I would verify this is the correct thermocouple for your unit. if so I would recommend contacting a local plumber in the area.

A:  The included metal sleeve should be installed on the thermocoupling bulb as it is inserted through the bracket between the holes. The sleeve is then pressed through one of the holes to hold the bulb in place. Needle nosed pliers make this a wiz.

A:  It's hard to answer without knowing what you are trying to install it in. The hole in the pilot assembly should not be bigger than the thermocouple. Adaptors may be called for to address that issue. Or you might have the wrong part. No - one is not supposed to open the metal clip sides. Yes - the metal clip can go on top of the thermocouple. There is a small grove in the body of the thermocouple. Once the body is put thru the assembly hole, the clip is put on top and "clicks" into place upon that grove. As the pilot/thermocouple assembly is a safety critical device - it might be advisable to seek and expert to come out and install things for you.

A:  The picture on the back of the packaging shows where to put the clip. Use a bright flashlight, needle nose pliers to place the clip in. Mine uses a U-shaped holder, so it goes inside the U. Submit a pix if you get stuck...worth 1000 words.
