Q:I'm looking for grey, do I order Primed? The white shutters look grey as well.

Answer This Question

A:  Thanks for reaching out. While we do not have a grey color, we would recommend ordering them "Unfinished" or "Primed" and painting them upon arrival. Paint the product with a good quality, vinyl safe 100% acrylic latex paint. If painting the product a dark color, colors that have an LVR rating of 54 or lower, use paints with heat reflective characteristics specifically formulated for use on vinyl or PVC products.

Q:Will I have to paint or finish the gray “unfinished” shutters in some way or can they be used as is?

      Answer This Question

A:  Thanks for reaching out. Yes, the shutters do need to be painted to assure a long-lasting and good-looking product. This shutter arrives unfinished, thus the raw material can range from white, to a light grey. The raw material can slightly vary in color. For best results, prime the product thoroughly to achieve a smooth, consistent, paint-ready surface. Once priming is finished, paint the product with a good quality, vinyl safe 100% acrylic latex paint. If painting the product a dark color, colors that have an LVR rating of 54 or lower, use paints with heat reflective characteristics specifically formulated for use on vinyl or PVC products.

Q:How do you measure for exteriors shutters?
              by|Feb 13, 2020
              1 Answer
              Answer This Question

A:  Thanks for reaching out! Measuring for exterior shutters can vary, depending if you are using them to be functional or decorative and what hardware you are using for installation. If they are being used in a decorative manner, it typically looks best to have the width of the shutters, half the width of the window and the height of the shutters to be in-between the glass height and the casing. It should look as if they closed, they would be flush with the window casing and cover the window. If you are using them in a functional manner (opening and closing) we'd recommend consulting a local professional to guide you through the measuring process. Please let us know if we can further assist!

                Answer This Question

A:  Thanks for reaching out! <br> Yes, our composite shutters can be installed with operational hinges. We advise following the recommendation and quantity guidelines of the hinge manufacturer, you use. The quantity recommendations vary slightly. Typically, for a 74" high shutter, it would be approximately 3 hinges per shutter (so 6 per pair).
