A: No, you just lift the lid and the seat is secured to the back and front of the toilet bowl. There is a curved lip on the back side and a threaded clamping part on the front.

A: No its like a regular toilet seat. Its very secure, my mother-in-law felt very comfortable while using it. (I have sat on it before in a hurry, so I know its like a regular seat). Hope this helps.

A: The seat is hard plastic like a toilet seat. Since the raised toilet seat is hollow, it is softer than a solid plastic toilet seal. I Highly recommend the seat as it avoids sitting too low and having trouble getting off the seat.
