Q:I see the unit supports 700 lbs, is that referencing the body or the lid? Will the lid support someone walking on it?

A: When installed, the main body supported as shown in the pictures on home depot website, the unit is designed to support 700 pounds.
While some customers have installed in an area for a drain type scenario, the unit has not been tested to accommodate foot traffic.

A: There is only one size. Read the instructions carefully and make careful assumptions about how it will fit; many dimensions you may want are not on the documentation. You can stack them up if you need to make them taller.

A: Yes I would at least drill into the top holes and caulk / silicone the frame to the wall. This is what I did instead of adding fasteners to the other lower holes.

A: Everything seen in the picture is included. It's the vent unit (gray ribbed section) which gets mounted to the outside of a crawl space air vent and may need to be partially buried. The gray half disc that can be set to the appropriate level in the internal ribbing of the vent unit. The center hole in the half disc acts as a drain should water get into it. Hardware includes 2 mounting screws with anchors and screws for the brown grated decorative lid which is also included.

Q:I'm thinking of using these in a future patio. Can I pour the concrete right up to these or would I need to backfill them with soil or rock first?

A: You have to mount them to the foundation, but once screwed on they are rigid and work great for concrete.

A: Yes, pour right up to them. These are shaped as a half circle and butt up to your foundation wall, where your crawl space vents are located. We used them so we could pour concrete patio’s and porches around our home and allow our crawl space vents air flow and function properly. They look and function great.

A: They are well built for what they are but I would not use them in a travel area unless you made a grate to cover the entire area and it rested on the outer perimeter of the vent
