A: Thank you for posting your inquiry DAP ALEX PAINTER'S Caulk. The issue that you appear to be describing typically occurs in applications where excessive joint movement is occurring and/or where low flexibility paints are applied over more flexible materials (such as caulking compounds). Cracking within the applied paint coat most commonly occurs when the paint is not able to flex to the same degree as the underlying caulk. This is not a quality or performance issue with respect to the applied caulk, rather, it is a physical (performance) limitation with respect to the applied paint. In applications where joint movement is likely, the use of softer/more flexible paint coatings (such as a semi-gloss), would be better suited. Because you did not provide any background regarding your project, application technique or application conditions, it is difficult to provide a more detailed response in this format. A: INSTEAD OF LISTENING TO ME GO TO WHERE YOU BOUGHT THE TILE OR ANY FLOOR STORE ASK THEM THEY WILL GIVE YOU THE CORRECT ANSWER, JOE
A: Hi NewbieDIY, I would strongly recommend that you consider not using this product and instead utilize DAP Dynaflex 230, sold right here at Home Depot. Baseboards and crown molding expand and contract when levels of humidity change in the home and thus you need a caulk that will also expand and contract to prevent cracking. The Dynaflex is an elastomeric caulk, which means it does just that. It is strong enough to be used outdoors and handles exposure to water and dirt very well. You can also checkout DAP Dynaflex Ultra as an option. Caulk is like paint. The more you pay, usually, the better the product and results will be. At less than 2 bucks, this painters caulk has always let me down, professionally. The Dynaflex line has always left a wonderful result. Good luck!
