Q:Can use use this for an elevtric recliner?

Answer This Question

A:  Hello Jst2bzy, It all depends on the wattage the electric motor uses. On the motor there will be a safety label that lists the input voltage, amperage, and possibly the wattage. If the wattage isn’t listed, you can take the voltage times the amperage to get the wattage. If the chair draws less than 255 watts, you can use this battery pack up to get the chair down. If the input wattage is close to or more than 255 watts, I suggest moving to a larger UPS where the wattage of the UPS exceeds the requirement by 20%. Thank you for your question.

A:  Hello Matthew, We apologize for the odor you are smelling. Occasionally, one of the components in the unit can have a temporary odor when you first use it. Aside from smelling bad, its not toxic or a risk. It’s a rare occurrence, but it does happen. Typically, if you run the unit for 24 hours, the odor will go away. If after 24 hours, it hasn’t dissipated, please contact CyberPower Systems’ technical support. Thank you for your question.

A:  No issue with the unit we purchased a while back. It sounds like you have a bad battery that is leaking. I would recommend to either return it if you purchased it recently, or replace it with a new unit.

              by|Oct 25, 2018

A:  Yes you may get some off gassing from the plastics. How old is item? If it newer and smells to strong maybe try a new item, exchange it for same model or different model.

A:  I have never had any troubles with this item or the like in the past. How old is the unit? sometimes you get some off gases from plastics. Has this been doing this since you bought it? There are rechargeable batteries inside that could be going bad. Is the unit hotter than normal? I use these on all electrical items of value in our houses, that includes all TV's, DVR's, computers and items like this. These condition the power coming into each item in case of brown outs, lower power supply. I hope this is a starting point for your troubles.

                  by|Oct 20, 2018

A:  No, but that is clearly not normal and the unit should be replaced as soon as possible because there may be a leak from a battery. Also, the correct way to describe the unit's capacity is 425 VA, not "425-Volt".

A:  Hello Jim, Yes, there is an alarm on this product and it can be silenced by pressing the power button twice quickly. The UPS will then beep twice letting you know its in silent mode. Thank you for your question.

A:  There is an alarm for loss of incoming power, and the frequency increases as the battery is depleted. The only way to turn it off is to shut down the UPS.

A:  Yes, there is an alarm during outages and in test mode too. I do not know if it can be turned off, as I have not tried to shut it off. The alarm during outage is a loud tone that lasts about 10 seconds and test is a second long. I do not even hear the alarm during test mode. We have these for all the flat screen TV's and computer also.

                                Answer This Question

A:  No, this unit is not large enough for a freezer. Answering based on the specifications for the CyberPower SE425G model. The SE425G is rated for 255 watts. This means a maximum of 2.3 amps (225 watts / 110 volts = 2.3 amps). If your freezer needs more than 2.3 amps, it would overpower the battery. If you tried this unit with the freezer, it would look fine when regular power is on, the unit just passes through regular power. When power fails (which you test by unplugging the SE425G) the freezer might run for a few minutes, then the battery would run out. Freezers, air conditioners, stoves can not be run from battery units. You would need a gasoline powered generator for that heavy a load.

A:  No, these are not for items like your requested power use. I use mine for electronics to condition the power to TV, DVR and stereo equipment too. This prevents power surges from blowing them out. I can watch TV without power for 60 minutes. We have a back up generator at our house too.

A:  You can safely plug the freezer into the surge only outlet. Its not recommend that you plug a freezer into the battery side of a UPS as the in rush current, when a compressor starts up, can cause damage to a UPS. A generator is a better option for large appliances.

A:  In general, you don't want to put anything with a motor on a UPS. The compressor in the refrigerator will spike when it turns on and UPSs aren't built to handle that. This particular UPS is small and cheap. I have personally been disappointed by how long it has held even small IT gear. This will not work for your purpose, and it would be best for your fridge that you not plug it into any UPS.

A:  The internal battery has a charge and you can use it while it charges to full capacity. Obviously the existing charge is diminished due to sitting on a store shelf and the intrinsic time from the date of manufacturing to the time you plug it in. The battery will recharge to full capacity in about 8 hrs or less.

A:  Yes. This type of device is meant to be plugged in all day every day, with your critical item plugged into the UPS. When there is a power failure dthe UPS will provide piwer to your device, how long depends on how much power your device uses and the size of the battery inside the model UPS you buy.

A:  Yes. Plug it in, and turn it on for 24 hours. (This will result in longer battery life.) After that, you can plug your device into it.

A:  The CyberPower SE425G is rated at 450VA. This is more capacity than a unit rated at 350VA. So yes, this unit should run an elevator control board that is now backed up by a 350 VA unit (but it is much to small to run the elevator motor.)
