Q:Can you custom cut this into a 2' circle?

Answer This Question
A: Yes, can be done. Tape the area to be cut with 3M blue painters tape, this will help eliminate the cut edges from getting a rough edge. You will need to band the edge with cherry trim after. I used a heat gun to get the glue to adhere.

Q:Any problems using 3/4” plywood for dining table top with a decorative routered edge? Can edge be stained enough to hide or blend exposed layers?

A: Hello,
The panel will work for the table top. The edge will not blend well. I would recommend using lumber to trim the edge and then router the lumber trim.

A: No amount of stain or finish will hide the fact that the edge is plywood. I suppose you could paint it, but you'd still have a difference in the texture (the plywood layers are coarser wood, and would not be as smooth as the surface veneer. If you want a decorative edge detail (instead of using edge banding), then my suggestion is to do the edge detail on solid wood, and affix that solid wood to the edge of the plywood veneer with tongue/groove or similar typical method for attaching solid edge to plywood.
by|Aug 1, 2020
A: You need to put veneer on edges. Veneer strip could probably tolerate some rounding of edges but not much. You also might want a thicker ply than 3\4 for a table top.
by|Oct 7, 2021
A: I would use a 1X2, or some other dimension of solid cherry to cover up the edge. The plywood edges of the cherry plywood will not be hidden from staining.

Q:Would this be good for a small table top to hold speakers

A: Hello,
I would recommend the ¾” panel for a table top. Just know the Cherry veneer is thin – 1/50” thick. You will need to finish with a quality/durable finish.
