Answer This Question

A:  Hi, I believe the best option would be taking the plywood to your local Home Depot and show them the picture you are referring to. They will know what's best to use to get the exact look you are wanting! Thanks.

A:  The color you see is natural. Cherry darkens when is exposed to sunlight. I use a wipe on oil finish (Arm R Seal) and within a couple of months it will darken to a rich reddish brown color.

A:  Yes it’s cherry veneer on both sides. As far as I know you can not get pure bond plywood with cherry on one side.

A:  It has cherry on both sides yes one side usually has more sap wood meaning more lighter color

A:  Hi Mike, The 3/4" panel will have cherry on both sides. To get a cherry panel with birch or maple on the back side, you would need to do a special order at the store.

              Answer This Question

A:  Cherry naturally varies in color. Mine was very consistent, but you can expect some variation, which is a natural look.

              by|Jan 5, 2022

A:  You can expect slight color variations. I used the plywood to build something to mimic the solid 3/4" cherry wood cabinet doors in my kitchen. My doors vary a lot in color which makes them more interesting.

A:  Those images are meant to show the types of looks that can be achieved with different colors of stain. They do not recognize the raw cherry color you will receive with this product. If you have any more questions, email me at mhale@cfpwood.com and I can help. Thanks - Michael

A:  When I ordered there was no choice of shades. I stained mine to match an existing cabinet.

A:  Slight variation in colors as is typical with cherry wood.

A:  Yes, on the panels I received, the grain ran length wise. If it were possible, I'd attach a picture of my project showing the grain direction.

A:  The panel is going to be really good to begin with. I would give it a smoothing over with 320g to avoid any chance of a swirl that would threaten the veneer. Tack cloth and finish. Good luck.

A:  This is standard, all your cabinet end panels and furniture are this thin. I was a cabinet maker years ago, and we sanded veneer like this all the time. You just have to be careful. No belt sanders! If you are going to sand through it will happen at the corners because you have a tendency to roll the sander over the edge.

A:  Yes, but be careful. I use 220 in my ROS and a very light touch.

A:  The actual final thickness after drying and sanding is approximately .703". Only the outer layers of this product are cherry.
