      Answer This Question

A:  Yes they can be installed upside (depending upon your support system). I installed 16" shelves upside down in order to have a lip on the front. Note that the structural support wires are on the underside of the shelves, so you won't have a perfectly flat surface. But for my boxes, etc. that's not a big problem. The diameter of the wires is not that big.

A:  Yes! I'm storing maing "boxes", etc. and wanted a "lip" on the front edge to keep things from sliding off. I've mounted mine "upside down". Just be aware that the structural reinforcing rods are on the "bottom" of the shelf... i.e. you won't have a perfectly "flat" surface on which to place your stuff. Diameter is small enuf that it's not a problem for my "boxes".

A:  "bar spacing"... do you mean how big is the gap between individual wires? The wires on my 16" shelves are 1" "on-center".

A:  If you are asking is the spacing between studs in the wall?. if so it will be on 16 inch on center. Use the top hanger bar to support the vertical channel. Screw the vertical channel to the wall studs.

A:  Yes....12 in. brackets. I made the mistake once thinking it was the same size as the 16 in. shelf. The 12 in bracket allows for the clothes on hangers to slide. I also added extra brackets because the clothes along with storage on shelf become heavy. I also put several of the the cup brackets and screwed into the stud

A:  Chances are you got the wrong angle brackets or installed something wrong. The super slide system should look like the kit in the link below. If installed correctly, the rod shouldn’t interfere. https://www.homedepot.com/p/ClosetMaid-SuperSlide-48-in-W-x-12-in-D-Shelf-Kit-with-Closet-Rod-5631/100172468 These are the angle brackets you need: https://www.homedepot.com/p/ClosetMaid-12-in-x-1-in-White-Shelving-Support-Bracket-2-Pack-76606/100143993

A:  Depends on how you mount the supporting rails. One rail at each end of a 6 foot length and the shelf will not support much at all. Put rails on 16 inch centers with lag screws into wall studs and it will hold considerable weight.

A:  Hello. The weight capacity for the Wire Shelving Units varies depending on the DEPTHS of the Wire Shelving, and the TYPE OF INSTALLATION. I made a table below for your reference. Fixed Mount (Wall Mounted) WIRE SHELVING DEPTHS: WEIGHT CAPACITY: 12 inches 30 lbs./Linear Foot 16 inches 30 lbs./Linear Foot 20 inches 25 lbs./Linear Foot Adjustable Mount (ShelfTrack System) WEIGHT CAPACITY: Mounted to Studs: 75 lbs./Linear Foot Not Mounted to Studs: 50 lbs./Linear Foot *If you noticed on the Adjustable Mount, the depth of the wire shelving is no longer considered as long as it is attached to the Standards/Wall brackets Thank you for your inquiry.

A:  Since the weight needs to be held by the wall, consider what load you will be placing on the shelf and where. Front edge, closer to the back wall, side walls? What will you drive the brackets into? The wood studs? Sheet rock? What will you use to screw the hook into with? Screw alone, butterfly. rawl plug or similar. Confusing? Yes, but I say, the more the better and just be sure to distribute the load appropriately. Heavy stuff by the brackets in the wall and light stuff by the front edge. You may also choose an appropriate wall bracket brace or two as added central support if you feel the wire shelf bending down a bit and to be positive that it can and will hold all your needs, and heavier weight too. Other than that, I'd put the spacing at 16" apart just for peace of mind. It's going to be a visual peace of mind for you knowing that you didn't skimp on the job and it is there for as long as you want it there and more solid then a contractor would do for you...
