Q:I recently lost ME tv on channel 28.2.I wonder if the introduction of a new very strong tv signal on 30.1 is the answer?

Answer This Question

A:  The answer is not likely. While there are a few locations where some frequency overlap happens, it's very rare. The FCC does an excellent job at this by limiting what frequency and power a broadcasters uses. Channel 28.2 and 30.1 are the virtual channels, these two broadcasters are using different frequencies in the background. They are likely not even close in frequency to each other. Rescan your TV if this does not work call the broadcasters to check if they are making repairs or doing maintenance on their broadcast system.

A:  I am not an expert. The only guess I would make is that our local station that we watch ME on had some antenna upgrades and/or frequency changes and they advised us to re-scan for channels.

    by|Aug 14, 2020

A:  I would call Antennas Direct on this question. But I can tell you that every so often I lose channels also. I get a message every so often to do a channel scan because the frequency of some channels change slightly. I hope this helps.

Q:I just want to make sure the ClearStream® 5 VHF Attic/Outdoor HDTV Antenna gets both UHF and VHF. I want both sets of channels. Is this the best for attic installation when towers are about 30 miles away? Thanks

A:  I don't feel qualified to answer this question. Sorry. I have a second antenna. Combined they work very well. I am VERY happy with support I've received from Antennas Direct over the years.

A:  The Clearstream 5 can receive UHF and VHF channels, but is designed primarily for VHF reception. It is most common to add a UHF antenna with the Clearstream 5. Please contact our Technical Support team directly by going to https://www.antennasdirect.com/customer-service.html and submitting a contact form if you have any other questions. A:  This will work in attic, but much better outside. I have mine on tripod on top of garage and I get good reception from 80 miles away. I also added the Clear Stream one that looks like Mickey Mouse ears and they are well worth the money

Q:I may get a ClearStream 5 to replace a two-bay UHF on a short mast mounted to a wood base so the whole thing can be moved around.  The UHF lost 2 small pieces and is getting a bit bent.  Will ClearStream 5 bring in Chs. 2-13 & all UHF or just 7-13?

A:  Hi there. I'm sorry for taking so long to get you my answer. To answer your question, I get all stations 2-13 plus all sub-stations which ends up to about 15 total stations. However, unless you live next door to me I can't promise that you'll get the same results. I hope I helped you on this.

A:  The Clearstream 5 is designed primarily for Hi V, may not receive a low V channel, and can receive UHF if the tower is close and strong enough. Q:How do I combine the DB8e with the Clearstream 5? Can I use the combiner off the retrofit UHF kit I just got from you? And does the clearstream 5 really weigh 11 pounds?

                        Answer This Question

A:  Since the VHF retrofit kit has an internal combiner, you would use the external UHF VHF combiner to combine the Clearstream 5 with a DB8e, seen here https://www.antennasdirect.com/store/antenna_combiner.html. The Clearstream 5 weighs 4.5 lbs. Feel free to contact our Technical Support team for more support. A:  I've got two antennas also an the combiner box should be universal. I had no problems combining my two antennas. As far as the weight, if 11lbs. is correct then that might be better in high winds like I have as long as the mounting is stable. When I had any questions or problems I just called Antennas Direct and had any thing I needed answered was taken care of. Have a good TV watching experience!

A:  I can say it is that light. It's in my attic so I can't get to it to weigh it. We have used a combiner and then a signal amplifier with this antenna and another in two homes over the last 5 years and have been VERY happy with the performance. Bought originally for a Public TV station I wasn't able to pick up because it was about 45 miles away.

Q:Is this antenna only for outdoor applications or can I use it in my attic? If it's not suitable for an attic installation do you have a VHF product that is for the attic? We currently have a Clearstream 4V that isn't picking up our VHF Channel 13 well.

My advice is to contact Antennas Direct and get their suggestions because I believe that they know what will work. Sorry.

A:  Hello! Three and a half years ago we purchased the ClearStream 5 UHF/VHF Ultra Long Range Outdoor DTV Antenna. It's been a while ago, but I remember that we went to some of the links on the AntennasDirect website to determine our position in relation to nearby broadcast towers. Our situation was not ideal, in that the towers were located in widely varying directions with some mountains involved, but we decided to try it. We installed the antenna in our attic, and the reception has been excellent. We can get all the major broadcast stations in our area, UHF and VHF, and some from outside the local area. Icy weather and/or high wind can distort the signal.

A:  The Clearstream 5 can definitely be used in an attic. The Clearstream 5 is our strongest VHF antenna and we often recommend it for receiving VHF channels through a roof. Feel free to contact our Technical Support team for more support. Answer This Question

A:  The antenna is designed to receive the hi-V VHF band of TV broadcasts, and so works for a frequency range of 174-216 MHz. A lower frequency, especially something in the 55-210 kHz range, is not likely to be received with a Clearstream 5 due to its shape. Feel free to contact our Technical Support team for more support. A:  I don't recall, but it is light and easy to support. Zip ties will work. Right now mine is simply placed on the insulation in a crawl space next to the loft area of the house. The antenna works well and beats the @ out of cable and satellite cost wise.

A:  Hi there. I'm sorry for taking a week to get back to you but I had a family emergency. To answer your question-yes there are mounting brackets for a pole. It been a few years since I installed this but I had to order a separate pole for mounting which included the base. I would talk to a rep to make sure. My antenna is mounted on my roof but it's adjustable to mount to the side of the house also. I hope this helps. The antenna is fantastic!!!!! Just make sure to get the direction in degrees correct. Also, check the website. It'll answer most of your questions. Have a great day!
