A: Hello klokm,
While the Evaporative Cooler Tie Down Straps are a heavy duty strapping system, they are designed for use with the Evaporative Cooler Cover and we do not recommend any other use. Thanks for checking with us!

A: These appear to be pretty heavy-duty. I've performed no wind testing, but assuming they are in nearly new condition when exposed to extreme conditions they should perform reasonably well. As you probably know, hurricane force winds have to power to remove roof-tops, and since these straps are fabricated using a fabric cord-weave you would need to consider the weight, shape and location of the object you are securing in order to estimate the strength of these straps under such severe weather conditions. The weakest link in the construction of these straps is likely to be the metal buckle.

A: These straps are designed to keep the covers on an evaporator cooler in normal weather. They probably wouldn't hold in a hurricane. I wouldn't recommend these straps for holding down furniture. They wouldn't be strong enough.
