A: Yes, this can be used. If you're going to be unplugging it often, we suggest a different box like B125AB and mount it to stud using the old work predetermined holes.

A: I plan to use one for a plug on our covered deck. No water will reach the plug but it also goes inside of a wall anyway so you should be able to use it.

A: Yes this is an electrical box designed to go inside a wall. The weatherproofing is provided by the type on cover that goes over the plug or switch. Maybe you want a surface mount weatherproof box? With a weatherproof cover?

Q:Since the point of enclosing an electrical connection in a box is prevention of a spark causing a fire in the wall, shouldn't these remaining four collections of slits in the back of the box be sealed with some fire-proof material?

A: Nope it requires a 1/4" to a 3/4" plate such as drywall to clamp on to it. There is a metal junction box which has a clamp that can reach around the thicker cinder block webs to secure to it. Look for Home Depot Store SKU #

A: It’s not outdoor rated so you run the risk of moisture getting in. When it comes to electrical it’s worth the couple extra bucks to get the outdoor rated boxes. Here’s a link to one:
