A:  If some thing sharp goes accross the step it can be scratched. If the ends are sealed all the way it can be waterproof. It cannot be put outside.

A:  For the most part they are scratch resistant. I used one for the top tread of stairs to transition to my laminate floor. Don't know about water proof. Spill some water and wipe it up fairly quickly, no problem. Standing water / very damp area, I wouldn't use laminate.

A:  I’ve had ours for 4 yrs in a high traffic area. No scratching and re water I have no idea. Great product. Make sure you buy the quarter round to go with it
