    A:  We use this kit on a house with 1x6 baseboards and the home owner wanted a more contemporary look with no casing around the door opening, but we had to use 1x4 around the opening to build out the top to match the baseboard and it worked perfectly.

      A:  Not unless trim is recessed into the drywall, so wall is plain flat. See video. No door or wall trim sticks out from wall; it would impede door moving.

          A:  From what I can tell from the spec sheets you loose about 3? of the doorway opening.

            A:  This is for a 40? door to cover a 36? wide wall opening with level 1 drywall finish. Leaves 34? opening. The wall this slides along must be completely flat & plumb. There can be no baseboard or door cashing trim. It all must be flat drywall.
