Questions and Answers for Broan-NuTone QT20000 Quiet Hood 30 in. Convertible Range Hood in Almond

A:  You would have to have an outside vent. I do not have one, but this is for inside or outside venting.

A:  It sounds like the range hood you have is set up for a non-duct installation. It may or may not be able to be converted to a ducted installation. Please contact our Technical Service Department at 888-336-6151 for additional assistance.

A:  It can be used as ductless and that's how I installed it. You just remove any duck attachments and keep the baffles in place so all exhaust is forced out of the front. There are vents that you don't see in the picture as part of the black oval where your controls are at. It has a variable speed and when it's on high, it can push quite a bit of air through.

A:  It can be ducted or ductless (non-duct). The air recirculates out the vents in the front of the hood by the switches.

A:  It can be outside or inside ventilation. Air is pulled in from under hood and filtered.

A:  This model can be used either ducted or ductless. Mine is installed as ductless. The hood has a knock-out plug in the top to allow for ducted venting.

A:  This is a convertible range hood. You have the 7" round option, the 3-1/4" x 10" rectangular option, and the non-duct option. It's not a 10" round. So if you need 7" round, then this range hood will accommodate that situation. Thank you.

A:  Sorry i'm not familiar with the Microtek System III; however, I can tell you this hood can be connected to rectangular ducting in the back, and rectangular or round ducting in the top.

A:  direct wired

A:  Mine had a direct electrical line from past hood.

A:  It is direct wired but you can but a conversion plug if you choose.

A:  Yes You can without removing anything.

A:  The hood is designed to be installed in a hard wired (direct wired) application.

A:  The most common installation is under an over-the-range cabinet, so you use the 4 screws to attach hood to the underside of the cabinet (review product photos). If you don't have a cabinet over range, you will need to attach it through back and maybe sides too using self taping screws (no predrilled holes on sides).

A:  I used longer screws as the ones included were only 1/2 inch

A:  This range hood is installed using only 4 mounting screws. Please contact Customer Service at 888-336-6146 and they can fax or email the installation instructions to you. As far as the cost of installation if you were to contact a handyman, we have no way to quote a price. We would suggest contacting several handymen in your area to obtain price quotes.

A:  It is designed to fit against the bottom of the cabinets above the stove

A:  Typically the hood is attached to the underside of an over-the-range upper cabinet, and therefore you wouldn't have much choice as to location. If this is for new installation, typically a 17-in tall (30-in long) cabinet is located over the range with the hood attached to that. If no cabinet is to be above the range, then you may locate the hood at a convenient height (for reach but also not a headbanger), keeping in mind where you will be locating the exhaust if you are ducting it. Typically the hood is located 24 to 30 in above range, but manufacturer usually has a recommendation.

A:  That has to be an error. I bought this recently and it indeed has a dual speed fan and it works great.

A:  Every BROAN appliance I have ever purchased has had a problem, bathroom exhaust fan and kitchen range hood" Bathroom fan became very noisy within 2years and the range hood had the same problem...Yes it has a fan but I don't recommend buying that brand..

A:  40 watt can use the LED lights if they are dimmable.

A:  Two 40 watt A15 bulbs (appliance bulbs)

A:  This range hood uses two (2) 40 watt maximum, Type A-15 appliance bulbs.

A:  If you are using 7" round or 3 1/4" x 10" rectangular duct, then the 220 cfm will be enough to exhaust 20 feet after 3 right turns.
