A: There is no difference. GLM 20x comes with hand strap.
A: Thank you for your question. The only difference of the GLM 20 and GLM 20X Laser Measurer is that the 20X does come with an I.D tag or handstrap that the GLM 20 does not have and the store where you purchased it from. A: Both the GLM 20 and GLM 20 X are the same in features.
A: It measures in inches, feet, and metric. I am including a link to the manual for more help: https://www.boschtools.com/us/en/ocsmedia/2610041695_0216_GLM20.pdf
A: Thank you for your question. Yes, the GLM20X will measure in inches only. There are three modes of measurement: meters, feet/inches and inches only. For further assistance, contact us at 1-877-BOSCH99 (1-877-267-2499) from Mon-Fri 7A-7P CST.
A: both, depending how you set it.
A: Feet and inches works well
A: Feet and inches.
A: Both. It can display lengths in 3 different formats. Inches, feet inches, and centimeters.
A: The units are available in three modes: feet and inches, meters, and inches only.
A: inches and feet, and metric
A: Both.
A: Feet, inches and fractions.
A: The easiest way I devised, is to adhere a "sticky" at the end of the counter, with the excess paper showing above the edge. The overhang allows the beam to concentrate on it. Take care that you don't bend the paper, or it will give you a somewhat longer measurement.
A: Thank you for your question. Using GLM 20 S Laser Measurer on a material that has no end surface will need a target pad. Just stick the target pad at the end part of the material that you are measuring. For further assistance, contact us at 1-877-BOSCH99 (1-877-267-2499) from Mon-Fri 7A-7P CST.
A: You can take a board and place it at a 90 degree angle at the end of the counter and shoot at that board.
A: You cannot.
A: You would have to use something to reflect the laser Example Tape a playing card to the edge
A: I'd place a board or cabinet at one end of the counter. Anything that can be flush against the counter.
A: For something with no end, such as a countertop, you would have to hold something flat against the edge of it high enough for the laser to bounce off it. Hope this helps.
A: You can't. This is meant to measure a room or a distance up to a wall or some vertical surface where the laser stops. It's also a bit finicky, I must say, I haven't quite figured out what the numbers mean sometimes - could be some sort of memory mode that stores the previous numbers which is a little annoying. I definitely need to read the directions, I was hoping it was a bit more of a straight forward thing but it seems that nothing is simple when any type German engineering is involved.
A: You could hold a flat surface, like a piece of scrap wood or a book- at the edge to create an "end."
A: Install a board or level on the end and measure to that.

A: Thank you for your question. The GLM 20 X Laser Measure is designed to measure distance with a range from 6" up to 65 ft, it is not a detector. For further assistance, contact us at 1-877-BOSCH99 (1-877-267-2499) from M-F 7a-7p CST.
A: No this is a laser it does not show increments, only distance.
A: This device just measure distance...
A: no
A: I measured wall-to-wall and floor-to-ceiling. There were no directional limitations.
A: It does not work that well outside.
A: It doesn't matter which direction you point it at. You do want to make sure you are pointing in a level direction whether it is vertical or horizontal. Manual for the device: https://www.boschtools.com/us/en/ocsmedia/2610041695_0216_GLM20.pdf
A: Yes
A: yes
A: Yes.
A: Absolute, Yes, It will measure anything that the laser light can hit. So if you point it toward a sign it will give you a reading. If you point it straight out into an open field you will get an error message.
A: Yes it will measure in any direction.
A: Thank you for your question. The GLM20X laser measurer does not have the indirect height feature.. For further assistance, contact us at 1-877-BOSCH99 (1-877-267-2499) from M-F 7a-7p CST.

A: Thank you for your question. The GLM 20 X Blaze Laser Measurer has a real time measurement mode feature. It has the continuous measurement, which means the measurement will continuously change when you move the measuring unit. A: Yes.
A: yes
A: Yes.
A: no you have to stop and be still for 5 seconds
A: yes it will
A: Yes! The measurement will not be set until you hit the button the second time.
A: Not really, but if you float an object at the top of the liquid, that will give the laser a target to measure from. Tie a string on to the floater to retrieve it after you have the measurement.
A: Why not?
A: Unfortunately no, the laser reports the bottom. However, when I just tested this it did register the top of the water in a glass for just a second but I could not replicate this on two other attempts.
A: if the liquid will reflect then yes
A: Thank you for your question. When using a GLM 20 X Laser Measure or other Bosch Laser Measurers, the laser beam will need to hit a solid target for it to measure the accurate distance. For further assistance, contact us at 1-877-BOSCH99 (1-877-267-2499) from M-F 7a-7p CST.
