Answer This Question

A:  No, like a measure tape just the distance and no any level.

A:  I use mine for measuring a distance. In order to use it for leveling, you must make sure that the instrument is in through Horizontal or Vertical position. I don't think it was made for leveling purposes.

by|Jan 11, 2021

A:  Thank you for your question. The GLM 20 X Blaze Laser Measurer has a real-time measurement mode feature. It has the continuous measurement, which means the measurement will continuously change when you move the measuring unit. There's no indication if it is horizontal or vertical, it is you who will set the measurement if it will be for height or distance. For further assistance, contact us at 1-877-BOSCH99 (1-877-267-2499) from M-F 7a-7p CST.

    A:  No

    by|May 18, 2021

A:  This is NOT a leveling device. It only measures distance from the base to the red dot (light) on the target you are getting measure of. it works both vertically and horizontally as an approximatum. If you need and exact measurement you should measure the old fashion way with a tape or ruler.

      by|Apr 17, 2024

A:  Not sure if I understand the question, but it can measure in any way/direction you point it. On its base, on its sides, up or down, left or right.

      by|Jan 6, 2021

A:  No. It has only the ability to shoot a straight beam of light so it can measure at any angle. No level indicator.

      Answer This Question

A:  Looking at the front of the unit, where the LCD is at the top, the LASER comes out of the top of the unit on the left side above the LCD.

      by|Dec 4, 2022

A:  Hi! The GLM 20 has a real-time measurement mode feature. The measurement it displays is the actual measurement of the item you are measuring and it will be best to align the bottom of laser measurer beside the item you are trying to measure. A:  No, if the rubber base is against the beginning of the measurement you will get accurate measurements, either horizontally or vertically.

        by|Nov 11, 2020

A:  The unit is designed to sit on the floor and shoot up. So the base is 0'-0"

A:  This laser measure actually goes down to 1/16th of an inch but I don't know which way it goes accuracy wise at that level.

          by|Jul 22, 2020

A:  Yes, the digital measure is pretty accurate. Someone's comment stated it might be 1/8 off but I haven't noticed.

          by|Jul 3, 2020

A:  The 1/8" is a plus or minus variable.

          by|Jun 8, 2020

A:  This tool is accurate to within 1/8” on a 65’ distance (1/16” over 32-1/2”, 1/32” over 16-1/4”, 1/64” over 8-1/8”) that’s incredible. The tool measured out to 1/16” increments and was dead on perfect. I didn’t trust it at first and triple checked all the measurements I had taken. Two people with a tape measure could not have been as accurate as this little tool. Other laser measures close in price had accuracy specs of 1/4” over 40’ which is not near as good as 1/8” over 65’.

Q:Can this be used for measuring baseboard and window Casements

A:  If I was the installer and you were measuring with this to order windows, I'm sure we'd have issues. But for baseboards, absolutely! This tool (in my opinion) is not for exacting measurements, it's for wall to wall type measuring. Great for flooring, carpets, baseboards, etc. My opinion after using this tool for a couple years.

A:  Window casements should no be an issue. And, it all depends on what you are trying to measure on baseboard (length, height or depth). If you are trying to measure the specific length of a piece of molding, then you need put or tape something at the end of the specific baseboard that comes out at a 90 degree angle so that the LASER Beam can hit it. When using this LASER Measurer the beam always has to hit or stop on an object.

A:  The only white self adhesive pad that was in the battery compartment on mine was one of those security tags for people who try to steal it from the store. If you’ve got some other type of pad it’s not needed for the device to function. Just put the batteries in and your ready to go

A:  The GLM 20 Laser Measuring Tool doesn't come with a connectivity or Bluetooth feature to transfer measurement to an application. You will be needing at least GLM 50C/CX and download the MeasureOn App for your application. For further assistance, contact us at 1-877-BOSCH99 (1-877-267-2499) from Mon-Fri 7A-7P CST.

A:  The GLM 20 X is designed to work in a dim lighted area or indoor. You will also need a solid surface to shoot the beam at. For outdoors, we recommend GLR825 or GLM400C/CL. For further assistance, contact us at 1-877-BOSCH99 (1-877-267-2499) from Mon-Fri 7A-7P CST.

A:  Yes as long as you can aim the LASER Light on to the top of the light pole. If the light pole has an arm that protrudes from the pole at a right angle it makes it easier to get the height. There is also a mathematical way using a bucket of water, but requires much explanation.

A:  The GLM 20 and other Bosch laser tools starts its measurement at 6" up to its maximum range, which for this unit, GLM20 is 65ft. For further assistance, contact us at 1-877-BOSCH99 (1-877-267-2499) from Mon-Fri 7A-7P CST.

A:  The unit measures from the back end forward. I placed it in a tight location and the unit would not register distance smaller than 5 15/16” away. I use this tool in real estate to measure room sizes and it works great. You place the back end against a solid surface and point to another surface that is not clear, (the laser will shine through clear glass and not measure), to get a measurement. If you don’t have a solid surface to align the back end, your measurement may not be as accurate.

A:  5-15/16” is the smallest measurement available. The measurement includes the length of the tool. The tool is approximately 4” in length.

I would also tie a string on the unit so it does not fall into the tank.

A:  I think this won’t work for that application as it uses a laser light to measure. The light will pass through the water rather than reflect off the surface. If you were able to have a solid surface, like styrofoam that would float at the top of the water, you could use that as a target for the laser. Make sure the solid is safe to be exposed to food if this is for potable water.

And as far as I can tell there are no toggle switches on the unit. Also, once it is on if you press it a second time it holds the measurement to be able to view it. Ti turn the unit off hold the button in till the display turns off. What is nice about this unit is if you are taking two measurements of the same thing but from different locations it moves the previous measurement up and in a smaller font. Thus showing you the difference. If for some reason your unit is only showing inches then just divide by 12.
