A:  Hi there! To change the unit of measurement of your GLM20X, you just need to turn off your unit, then press and hold until the options appear. For more information, please call 1-877-BOSCH99 (1-877-267-2499) from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. CST, Monday through Friday.

A:  Turn the device off. Press and hold the white triangle button down. The display will alternately show 3 units of measure. When the desired setting is displayed, release the white triangle button.

A:  It’s not that great for taking outdoor measurements. If it’s a bright day it’s almost impossible to see the laser. I usually try measuring towards a dark object if there’s one. Even then it’s hit an miss for measurements farther than 20’

A:  Its accurate just hard to see the laser dot when it’s sunny.

A:  Most laser-based products are going to have trouble giving readings outdoors, especially in direct sunlight. However, I have found that this unit does work pretty well at short distance (< 20 ft) outside in most conditions. But again, in bright direct sunlight you really can’t rely on low power lasers. The good news is that if it does give a reading it will be accurate, just sometimes it will not be able to give a reading.

A:  Dear Harleyrider17, This device always measures from the back end to the target. It is surprisingly accurate within 3 mm. It can be set to standard or metric and has a hold function which allows viewing the measurements following sighting the target. I have to be careful when measuring into carpet or curtains which throws the measurements off but placing a sheet of paper or something solid to target overcomes this. A:  Hi! For the GLM 20 X, the measurements are taken from the rear edge of the tool as indicated by the icon located on the tool’s rubber overmold. After the measuring tool is switched on, continuous measurement starts and you will just need to aim the laser beam at the target surface. A:  It has been awhile since I have used it, but I know I have used it both ways. If you use it butt up against the wall then add the length of the unit to your measurement.
