            Answer This Question

A:  Hello, and thank you for your question. The TS8000 torch is our Max Heat torch, so the BTU output will allow for a higher flame and heat output compared to the TS3500. If you have any additional questions, please email us at Bernzomatic@WorthingtonIndustries.com. Thank you.

A:  I believe that it would work but you would not achieve the temperatures that the Bernzomatic Map-Gas would give. That said this is a really nice torch

Q:Can you remove the torch head from the gas cylinder with gas remaining or do you have to leave the head on until the cylinder is empty?

                        Answer This Question

A:  Remove the torch head from the cylinder when you're done. After removal, open the valve on the torch head to vent it, then close it. Check the cylinder for leaks by sniffing & listening for hissing. AND...Don't forget to store the cylinder upright. Remember...Propane is extremely flammable & explosive, as is MAPP gas.

A:  It can be removed. Propane cylinders have a built in valve that closes when the torch is removed.

A:  There is a valve in the cylinder top that closes when the torch is removed. It's pushed open by that long stem in the base of your torch. Go ahead and take it off...

A:  Pretty sure you need an acetylene or a oxy/acetylene torch.

A:  Great torch. Throws a lot of heat. I use it to solder up to 1-1/4” copper pipe in plumbing and heating jobs. It might braze copper pipes, but I would go with oxygen/acetylene setup for a more precise heat. I thought most residential a/c use flare fittings?

A:  I've never done ac repairs but if you're just sweating copper pipes it should be plenty hot and maybe even too hot unless you turn the flame down. It has a lot bigger flame than a propane tip and you can use it with either propane or MAP Pro gas. And I am sure you know MAP Pro gas is a little hotter than propane.

A:  Make sure the end is threaded all the way down, and there is no debris in the air inlets, the end of the torch; or in the outlet of the propane bottle or the gas pin in the base of the torch (where it threads to the bottle).Spider webs in the air inlets are the usual culprits . Also, ensure you are using a good propane cylinder - a non-energetic, lantern-like flame suggests low fuel pressure. A yellow flame indicates insufficient air mixing with the gas. If you cannot find any blockage or restrictions, and the bottle is known to be good (for instance: another torch works fine on it), it may be time to retire that torch head...

A:  Maybe your tip doesn't need fixing. On the 8000 torch head, the flame swirls...It does not look like a conventional gas flame, say on a range.

A:  The TS4000 does not have a burn rate control valve. The TS4000 is just and on or off flame - no flame level control.
