Q:Can this be used on 20 year old composite decking?

        Answer This Question

A:  Hi Terry - Thanks for your question. This product is a great option for composite decking. For long-lasting results, we recommend cleaning the surface with our All-In-One Wood Cleaner, letting it dry completely, then applying 2 coats of solid stain directly to the surface for a uniform finish. Best - Sara

A:  I was not familiar with that product Behr Deckover -- but I'm glad I learned about it from your question. I used this Behr solid stain over a different brand of stain that really didn't offer anywhere near as much protection, and I'm very happy with how it has worn for over a year. I might buy some of this deckover paint also as we have an older deck, already was showing age when we bought the house - the other brand wasn't as good for protecting from sun nor rain. Just this solid BEHR covered the most visible signs of age, but, whatever I can do to extend the life and usability of our deck, I figure is worth trying - looks like it would work and this solid color stain was way easier to get good coverage than the last brand I used (the old owners left several cans of a different brand which I'm glad I changed from to BEHR).

Q:applying to a picnic tax like that trying brush and roller last year wasn't pleasant. couldn't get the deck plus to spray properly. I thought maybe reducing it might work?

              Answer This Question

A:  Hi Grizz. Thanks for writing in with your question. Typically thinning our DeckPlus Solid Color Waterproofing Wood Stain shouldn't be needed when sprayed on using an airless sprayer with a 60 mesh filter and a 0.015-0.019 tip. However, it can be thinned with up to 8 ounces of water per gallon if needed. Have a nice day! -Joni

A:  Hi MB, Behr DECKplus Solid Color Wood Stain needs to dry for at least 24 hours before light foot traffic and rain exposure. We recommend waiting 72 hours before heavy foot traffic and moving furniture back on the surface. I hope this information was helpful.
