A: Well there's no perfect way BUT I sewed a small ring just under the grommet and attached it there. I found small plastic rings at Joanne's fabrics.

A: I can think of a couple of options:
1. Sew the top of the clip to the back of the curtain either at the leading edge of the curtain or next to the grommet. Sew the clip on by hand, looping the thread over the clip enough times to secure it to the curtain; make sure the stitching is tight at the curve at the top of the clip so the opening in the clip won't be tempted to slip out of the stitching.
2. Get your hands on some type of metal loop that will act as a "jump ring" between the grommet and the clip. Something that could act as a jump ring would be one of those metal loops that you add keys to on key rings. You'll find metal (probably silver color) rings (all kinds of sizes) at office supply stores; they're used to keep wads of hole-punched paper together and have a simple but secure open-and-close mechanism. You could probably also find something in the hardware section of Home Depot.

A: I use these wands with grommet curtains and they slide nicely. It depends on how loose the back tabs are - they need to slide easily

A: I use with rings/clips - tabs can be heavier and more "drag". This would put more strain on the wand and curtain rod.
