A: You probably could. The mounting plate has four holes through which you could bolt a birdhouse as it's intended for a mailbox to be bolted...

A: No reason not too if the height is enough for you.
There's a serious of pre-drilled holes in the top plate. Just match those up.

Q:Can you use Sika Fence Post Mix instead of concrete to install this post? In order to comply with the USPS regulations, we can only install this into an 11"-12" deep hole.

Q:Mailbox post is 53 in and being set on slope. Will set into concrete. It appears that pressure treated 4x4 will give me extra length as the 53 inch box is too short and the 4x4 should fit inside the post. Is the pressure treated wood a good alternative to help gain the extra foot? Will the pressure treated wood survive time in concrete? How difficult would it be to drill holes in the post to hold the wood in place or is there a better alternative? The mailbox post itself does not have pre drilled holes to hold the wood being placed inside.

A: Hello, unfortunately, Architectural Mailboxes 53 in. Galvanized Steel 1-Mailbox Post is the same size as a 4x4 wood post and will not be able to slide over a true 4x4 treated wood post. The inner dimensions of the post are 3.5x3.5 inches. Thanks for reaching out!

A: I posted the question and if anybody bothered to read it there were 3 parts. Pressure treated wood, drilling holes in the Architextural post, is there any better way to get extension. Judging by the response on the web I would not buy this product. Support ????

Q:I intend to mount the post to a trispreader bar from the bottom with s/s carriage bolts. I need the exact dimension of the mounting holes in the post top and the thickness of the post top to calculate the carriage bolt length. To do the same with the mailboxes I need the exact dimension of the holes in the spreader plate to determine if the square of the carriage bolt will fit or will need to drill out the holes or resort to button head socket screws.

A: Hello, the mounting hole pattern on the top mounting plate has a 4x10 inch mounting hole pattern that fits 5/16" bolts and is constructed of 14 gauge (2mm) galvanized steel. The spreader plate itself also has a mounting hole pattern of 4x10 inches. Mounting hardware is included with both the spreader plate and the Architectural Mailboxes Post for the spreader plate to mount to the post and for additional mailboxes. Thanks for reaching out!

Q:I want to purchase this post (#5525P) and Mailbox (#950020P-10) but I have two questions: 1) Do I also need to purchase the bracket (#7540B-10) or does the post welded bracket do the job? 2) How many 50 lb bags of Quikrete Fast Setting Concrete (#100450) do I need?

Answer This Question
A: Hello, you will not need the bracket as the 5525P Post has the welded/built-in mounting plate and includes the necessary hardware needed to mount the 950020P-10 Centennial Mailbox. As for the amount of 50 lbs bag of Quikrete Fast Setting Concrete, this will depend on the width and depth of your in-ground installation - the Quickrete website has an easy to use calculator to determine how many 50 lbs bags of Fast-Setting Concrete mix, but they do recommend using two 50 lbs bags for a 12 in. x 12 in. hole. If you have further questions, feel free to email us at support@architecturalmailboxes.com. Thanks for reaching out!

A: Use about 75 lbs of concrete and it’ll be very sturdy. You do not need to purchase the additional bracket.

Q:Will this post work with a Gibraltar Stanley Extra-Large Galvanized Steel Post-Mount Mailbox Model # ST200B00? I'm asking because several reviews indicate it will fit over an existing 4x4 post ... which is my current support for an old mailbox I wish to replace with the Gibraltar ST200B00.

Answer This Question
A: Yes it should fit. The post is very strong. As a matter of fact my steel post actually wraps around a 4X4 post. This was for extra protection, but for the most part the steel post works on its own.
