Questions and Answers for Archer USA 4.5 in. Crack Chaser Diamond Blade for Concrete Repair

A:  Yes! You can use on a hand held grinder or a skill saw.

A:  Couldn't get it to fit onto my 7 1/4" Skilsaw... the guards and foot were obstructing trying to get the arbor hole on the blade shaft. Lower guard also might be a tight fit... on my saw it would've been about 1/16" clearance on either side if I was able to get it on (3/8" dia blade and my lower guard is about 1/2"). Things I didn't think of before ordering this blade.

A:  Not sure where you live but it's not at any stores that I can see in Arizona - you'll probably have to ship to the store or to your home. when you pull up the item on Homedepot.com you should see free ship to store for pickup listed underneath the item - if you click on that it will show you what quantities each store has

A:  Really gets the job done right with little or no time. If doing concrete repairs I would highly recommend.

A:  The wheel varies in thickness as do concrete cracks. Repairing the crack is a matter of using the wheel to achieve depth as needed, then the chased crack is prepped and filled as you see fit. Just understand that unless you float a topcoat on a crack repair, it will look like a repaired cement crack. There are more important things to worry about in this life.

A:  Crack chaser blades usually come I'm widths of 1/4 to 3/8 inches . The blades are tapered so you can get into the crack and widen them without bouncing around on the surface. Either width does a good job. Naturally the 3/8th blade will remove more cement and you may have a wider crack. The 3/8th blade will also work your angle grinder harder because it is removing more content. Where the crack is wider you just haft to use one side of the blade or the other to smooth the crack out. I usually like to keep a constant width for looks. Where the crack widens I will smooth both sides of the walls and take the jaggedness out of the wall. I also smooth the top edge with a slight round-over as I go. Chase the hairline cracks as far as you can identify them. Where the cement has raised up a bit I'll use the side of the blade to blend the surface so that the snow shovel doesn't catch.

A:  You need at least 1/4" wide to successfully fill with new mortar. If the cracks are 1/2" then you don't need to expand it but may want to chase with a grinder to ensure the edges are clean. So in your case you can do with either 1/4" or 3/8" blade.

A:  Cracks and the wheel both vary. With thought and practice you can achieve your result.

A:  If you have a five inch skill saw, you might be able to make it work. However, this is designed for a 5" grinder tool.

A:  Not sure, used mine on a 6 inch grinder.

A:  Yes, this product is compatible.

A:  It is designed to cut masonry products. If you accidentally encounter steel during cutting it will not damage the blade, but will cut very slowly, and may overheat if kept in contact with the steel for too long. Use an abrasive blade specifically designed to cut steel & ferrous metals.

A:  I have not used this cutting steel rebar in concrete, I would not recommend it. Only use this for cracks in concrete.
