Q:The strainer on my Amer-Standard (not made in the USA)bathroom faucet bears numbers on it. Is this the number for the replacement strainer, or of the faucet model?.. the Issue I have is : when I place the flow control fully on and full right (low-cold water) the water shuts off with a water hammer sound. Does this entail replacement of valve or other parts? A112.18.1M are the numbers on the strainer itself.

Answer This Question
A: We do not stamp model numbers on the faucet or its parts. If you located numbers on it, those are used for engineering purposes. If the faucet is making a water hammer noise, we would suggest removing the aerator and try running the faucet without the aerator on. Water hammer is due to pressure build up, and the aerator is usually where this occurs.

Q:I'm getting a brief sulfur smell when I turn on both hot and cold water (no where else in the house). Could this be a faucet problem or a problem in the flexible hoses coming to the faucet.
by|Aug 20, 2011
1 Answer
Answer This Question
A: There are no materials in the faucet that would contribute to a sulfer smell. It is possible this odor is being emmited from the drain. Cleaning out the drain should resolve the issue.

A: You must have the Speed Connect Drain with the cable system attached to the drain pipe. You simple turn the handle to the left to unhook the cable, then pop out the cam cap, with your fingers or the flat edge of a screwdriver. Then, you will wiggle the cam assembly around until you can pull it away from the drain pipe. It has a small plastic hook that attaches to the bottom of the stopper. By removing the cam assembly, you can easily pull out the stopper and remove the clog. For more detail instructions, go to our website www.americanstandard-us.com, click on Search for Products, then under keyword or product number enter "2904". Double click on the Williamsburg faucet and the Installation Instructions under DOWNLOADS. You will find the instructions for installing the Speed Connect drain and for removing the stopper.
