A: I would say medium to thick. I’ve seen thicker but not made in US and none with a grippy side.

Q:What is the best way to cut this pad so it fits the rug? It's kinda thick so will a scissors be good enough or do you need to use an exacto knife? I wish this product came with a video on how to cut it.

A: I used regular household scissors without much issue. However, a heavier style would be easier on your hands.

A: I used my kitchen shears, had no problem. It's a great pad, have never had to even think about it till now. No rumples, no skids. It just lays there doing what it is supposed to do.

A: The Premium All-Surface rug pad can be cut with a sharp scissors or razor knife. The fiber padding is a needled tight pad that does not lend itself to unraveling of the fibers.

A: I would buy the 8X10 pad for a 8X10 rug. Rug sizes are often slightly larger or smaller, but it is easy to cut the pad to fit. I just use a heavy duty scissors.

A: You will want to trim enough of the rug pad to allow the edges of the rug to lay flat at the edges to the floor. A general rule that works for most rug thicknesses is to allow a 1" border around the rug pad. So on your example on a 8x10 rug - a rug pad would be trimmed to 96"x118".

A: This pad is difficult to trim. Because of this, I would use a pad slightly smaller than the rug, say 7X9 if that size is available.

Q:How strong is the rubber backing on this pad? I have been trying to select a brand to purchase and I keep reading reviews about how the backing flakes off some brands or the rubber backing of other brands stains floors because it sticks to it. How would this rubber backing rate? I have an oak floor that I just spent over $5K re-finishing and I want to protect it!

A: I haven't had this too long, but so far I would say the rubber backing is great. It makes it non-slip but it doesn't stick to my floor. I can easily move it for dust mopping and cleaning.

A: I would say the rubber backing is fairly strong. I tugged at it, and it did stayed in place. No sign of tearing. We have been using it over a year and it shows no wear.

Q:For item #203076300, model HD030912F, is the rubber backing of this rug pad made of natural latex? If so, why does the description not give that information? It is my understanding that latex must be specified, if it is a component. If it is not natural latex, then it would be most helpful for the description to state that the rubber is non-latex.

A: I am unable to answer the question other than to say that I believe I went to the distributor and or the manufacturer and asked them the same question when I was shoping for a pad because we were placing the pad on high end wood floors and wanted to ensure that the pad would not damage the wood. I suggest you get the answer to your question from the manufacturer.
Good luck.

A: The pad is like thick felt. If the moisture will get to it it would probably be a bad ides

A: If your deck is covered, then use of the Premium All-Surface rug pad will work. If outside to the elements of rain, the key to an outdoor rug pad is to help the area rug dry out quickly. The needled fiber pad will have a tendency to hold the moisture under the area rug.

Q:Would this be suitable for placement under a couch to protect hardwood floors? If not, what product would be ideal for that? Also would the fiber side damage hardwood floors from sliding the couch away from the wall and back?

Answer This Question
A: Yes, this would protect your hardwood floors. Recommendation is that the fiber side is placed up with the rubber side down. This will aide in the couch from sliding, but will be able to be moved with resistance in short moves.
