A: Thanks for your inquiry. No, it will not fit because of the height. The inner height ranges from 1-1/4" to 1-1/2" it depends on the cooling process of the foam when it dries. The inner interior is like a "U" shape.

A: I bought a quart for 3 beams, there is a little left. I think 2 qts. will do it if you are using one coat of stain.

A: Thanks for your inquiry. According to Minwax Gel Stain, one quart covers approximately 200 square feet. It also depends how many coats you will do. To darken the color, apply additional coats. Always test stain on a scrap piece or hidden area of the beam to verify desired color.

A: You could probably stain 4 13ft. beams with one quart, one coat each.

Q:How can I install this on a cathedral ceiling?
by|Mar 25, 2018
1 Answer
Answer This Question
A: Thanks for your inquiry. First you need to measure the internal width of the beam. Secondly, cut two pieces of wood blocks to fit the internal dimension of the beam. Third, predrill holes for screws. Fourth, use long screws to go through the double wood blocks, through the plaster or sheetrock. The wood blocks will be installed evenly under the Cathedral ceiling. Make sure the screws go through the wood structure of the house. Fifth, repeat fourth steps every 3 to 5 feet. Sixth, dry fit the beam to the wood blocks and use long screw to fasten the beam. Fill screw heads with colored caulk or wood filler. By following this steps, it won't be necessary to cut the top edge of the beam to match the pitch of the ceiling.

A: Thanks for your inquiry. Cut blocks of wood to fit the dimensions of the inside of your beam, these will anchor your hollow beam to the ceiling. Use a stud finder to locate where to anchor blocks of wood on ceiling. Mount your anchor blocks to the wall, laying them over the marked studs. Apply PL Premium Construction Adhesive Poly or Liquid Nails Poly on the top edges of the beam where it will be touching the ceiling

Q:I ordered two samples each one a different size. I liked the dimensions of sample #5APD10734 but I liked the "grain" and the more rustic look of #5APD10332. Is the grain the same on both beams or is one more "rustic" then the other?
Thank you
