    Q:Would this spreader handle rock salt?  I want to do weed control on my driveway and trail with salt, and the cheapest salt around would be the Windsor rock salt.  Thanks

    A:  Rock salt is not recommended. You can use ice melt, granular product in the spreaders. Thank you.

            A:  If you are wanting to spread sand it must be in a mixture of product. Straight sand is not recommended. Thank you.

              Q:My brand new spreader refuses to spread even in the wide open position. After adding 50# of lime or Scott's turf builder. I drive around for 30 minutes to spread about half of the material. I then dump spreader and spread the remainder by hand.

As was said in the first case you sent its possible that the product is bridging up in side the hopper.                 Q:Is there a conversion from Scotts to this? Everything I seem to buy has everything EXCEPT agri-fab! I know on the hopper it states like 1-2 for granuals but it would be nice to convert from say a 5 1/2 scotts to an agrifab.

                A:  You want to focus on the pounds per thousand sq. ft. If it recommends 2.5lbs/1000sqft your setting on the spreader will be 2.5 to 3. Just so you have a base line. There is no conversion of flow plate openings per each brand of spreader.

                  A:  No top soil and compost is not recommended to be used in the spreaders. They are designed to spread fertilizer and seed. Granular or pelletized. Thank you.

                    Q:Hello, I am using Scott's granular weed and feed through my spreader. The grains are very small, and fall out through the slots when the lever is in the off position. I have calibrated the flow plate (I think), but it still "leaks". Any thoughts?
