Q:How do you clean this brush?

Answer This Question

A:  With water

by|May 19, 2021

A:  just use water from a garden hose

    by|May 5, 2023

A:  Don't let it dry out, since it will be harder to clean. If you use topping or diluted joint compound, scrape as much off as you can so you aren't getting a lot of mud down your drain and use warm water and get everything off the bristles. Shake it out well and set it on something that will let it have air while it dries, like a screen.

Q:Is this what you need to do a stomp texture? I just have to repair a couple of spots in my ceilings, and that is the texture I have.

A:  Not sure what you mean by crows feet. To me the appearance is like elongated puckered mop prints. The texture is like pulling apart a peanut butter sandwich. Little peanut butter small peaks or a lot of peanut butter for tall peaks.

A:  Use dry wall topping mix. Mud is too thick.

                Patch and Match
I tripped and put a 14 inch hole in the wall. Patched it up and had no idea how to redo the texture. After a Google and YouTube search to match the type of texture I had, I determined that this brush was for me. I used regular premixed mud and just thinned it out with water until it was a little thicker than paint. Rolled it on the wall and poured some onto a board and rolled some onto the clean brush (brush works better when damp). Texture matches perfectly and the brush was easy to clean. It's in my tool box for the next time I (I hopefully don't) need it.

This brush was flimsy. Bristles were not stiff enough to adequately texture the ceiling. Avoid.

Got this to make "crows foot" or "stomp" design in wet compound. This brush is different then those sold for this purpose but it does make this design. It does however fill up very fast with compound and makes clumps. Washing it will eliminate the clumps of compound but it doesnt work as well when it is wet. I recommend this brush for small areas only.
