About This Product

Our national attention is turning to climate change. All the data say it's crunch time and that plants are essential for building communities that can withstand these changes. A 2016 report from the EPA explored ways green infrastructure can improve community resiliency. Ornamental grasses and sedges can be part of the answer in all the case studies cited in the EPA report. Grasses and sedges anchor the plantings that help clean our water, reduce flooding and lessen the effects of rising temperatures. Let's work towards a better environment. Chasmanthium latifolium. Known as River Oats or Northern Sea Oats, this US native produces a multitude of beautiful pale green seed heads in midsummer that are reminiscent of the sea oats found at the beach. Panicles drop under their weight and look absolutely beautiful when backlit by the Sun. Chasmanthium latifolium is a tall ground cover that grows in just about any situation: Sun, shade, moist or dry. This ornamental native grass is a great landscape solution for areas of dry shade. When planting, keep in mind that River Oats will spread and reseed, so place it in appropriate locations. When planted in Sun, this plant may grow taller than four feet.

Arrived neat and tidy
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Arrived quickly and was packaged very well. Had no dirt spilling out of it's container. Unfortunately, we were leaving for vacation that same day, so I did not have time to plant it, but I set it outside in the spot where it would go. It did not get enough rain while we were gone and it died - but that is no reflection of the plant since we weren't home to take care of it. I would purchase from this company again.

    Ornamental Grass River Oats
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] We got these in a couple of months ago. We didn't expect them to start growing but now think because are in the flood zone area and have had two floods on this property the soil is fertile to grow on. This took off growing and is gorgeous absolutely gorgeous. We have guards around them to keep them from being cut down. Very classy looking grass. We've made plans to purchase more of these. A very happy experience for our family. Thank you

      Plant didn't make it.
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Unfortunately by the time this plant arrived it was dead. It took a beating in transit so I cannot accurately review it. I tried to give it a chance to revive but it was too far gone.
