About This Product

Grubs and other listed insects can do extensive damage to lawns by feeding on grass roots. Damaged turf turns brown and is easily pulled up by hand. Prevent turf damage with Scotts GrubEx1 Season Long Grub Killer. A single application of this granular insecticide can kill and prevent grubs for up to 4 months. This grub killer also kills caterpillars (armyworm), chinch bugs, May/June beetles, and more (as listed), and can help control Japanese beetle infestations when applied annually. Apply Scotts GrubEx1 Season Long Grub Killer to a dry lawn in the spring or early summer to kill grubs as they develop. We recommend using a Scotts spreader to apply this product. For Scotts broadcast/rotary spreaders, use a setting of 3 ½. For Scotts drop spreaders, use a setting of 5 ½. For Scotts Wizz, use a setting of 3 ¾. Water in thoroughly to activate. People and pets may re-enter the lawn after it has dried. The maximum number of applications for this product is one per year. One 28.7 lb. bag of Scotts GrubEx1 Season Long Grub Killer covers 10,000 sq. ft.

Q:My husband put Scott Grubex he brought today from Home Depot where we are going to grow vegetables by accident. Before he watered we released the mistake and we shoveled it up the best we could. Will we be able to plant vegetables in the next 2 weeks ok?

    1 Answer
    Answer This Question

A:  Scotts Grubex1 Season Long Grub Control is not for use in a vegetable garden or around edibles of any kind and is not to be applied within drip zone of fruit or nut trees. As a precaution, we recommend keeping product 18-24 inches away from all edibles. (even fruit and nut trees in the lawn). If the residual from this product was digged up from area, it is not guaranteed that the product was fully dislodged from area. However, if sure was completely removed, it may be safe to plant. If unsure, if completely dislodged, you will not able to plant edibles for one year.

          Expensive waste
Doesn’t work and costs twice as much as the best brand I’ve used so far. Bought this after noticing a few holes and wanted to do some spot treatment. And even when putting a concentrated amount around certain areas it still didn’t work.

Grubex works great with some planning!
Works great. Not an instant fix. I had large dead spots and moles tearing up my yard last year. I reseaded my yard in the fall and it started looking a little better. Then in early spring I decided to take the food source away from the moles and followed the directions and put down Grubex as directed. My yard is one of the best yards on the block. No dead spots or moles! With a little planning you can have a good looking yard.

              Failed
I applied the grub treatment in early May. I have noticed severe patches of dead grass. I originally assumed it was from lack of rain. I began watering religiously. The yard started to look really good with the exception of the same patchy dead spots. I decided to dig and found live grubs. Very frustrating!

We're sorry to read about your disappointment with Scotts Grubex1 Season Long Grub Killer and appreciate your feedback. For best results, this product should be applied as a preventative in the spring or early summer (before the 4th of July) before damage is present; once damage is noticed, it is too late. GrubEx is not effective on mature grubs. This product must be immediately watered into the soil before it will be affective and must be applied to the entire lawn for complete control. We want you to be confident in our products. For this reason, we offer a product guarantee to our consumers. At your earliest convenience, please reach out to us at 888-270-3714 if we can further assist.
                Did not effect the grubs
I put the product down as directed. I paid considerably more because I have trusted Scotts products in the past for all my lawn care. I was, to say the least, highly disappointed. After putting it down I ran the irrigation system for 10 mins per zone and then we received a light shower overnight. After a week I still had grubs. I then purchased a bag a of Spectricide (less than half the cost) and the next day my yard was full of dead above the ground grubs.

I used this last year and didn’t have any grub issues. Thankful that there’s a product out there that can control these little beasts. I ordered two bags already and I’m prepared for this year!

Kept me from getting Army Worms!
Kept me from getting Army Worms last year, while everybody else had them! Even the lawn connected to mine and the wild field had them! I bought again this year!

                  This stuff works miracles
We didnt know what grubs were and they wrecked our lawn this summer. We thought there was no going back. About a week ago we went out and bought some grubex and laid it down and then watered. Its worked miracles. We didnt think we would be getting much grass back this year but its coming
