Great device. We installed it in the direct inlet line for a dishwasher that wasn't doing its job. Right away we could see the results. This was not a normal installation as I suspect the unit is capable of supporting more that one appliance, but undoing the new kitchen cabinetry to get electrical access here is tricky. I've already purchased several more units for other homes. BTW - they will be great for landscaping systems so that the drippers don't get clogged up.

The water in my town is hard and leaves unsightly white water spots on faucets, sprayer heads, appliances and automobiles. There is not a lot of rust, and the water is not so hard that we found it necessary to install a water softener treatment system, but the high mineral content of the water is evident, and I suspect contributed to shortening the life of my 40-gal hot water heater. We recently upgraded to a tank less hot water heater, and installed this nano electronic descaler water conditioning treatment system to protect our investment, and hopefully prolong the life of the water heater. At only slightly larger than a pack of playing cards, this unit is fairly small and takes up much less space than is required for a water softening system. I attached the control board to the side of a floor joist in the basement, close to the main cold water supply for the house. Alternatively, I could have adhered it to the foundation wall using an adhesive. The unit includes an A/C adapter with an approximately 6-ft power cord. Until I have an opportunity to install a dedicated receptacle near the control board, I am running an extension cord and receiving power from a nearby receptacle. The most difficult part of the installation was wrapping the wire around the water supply line, which must be done correctly in order for the unit to work properly. Starting in the center of the wire, I wrapped 22 rotations one way and 22 the opposite way, tied both ends off with the included zip ties and inserted the bare ends of the wire into the spring clips on the bottom of the control panel. The installation was tedious due to the effort necessary to properly wrap of the wire, but not difficult. This particular unit is designed for municipal water supply. If you have well water, you will want to install a more powerful unit. While I don't particularly fancy the look of the wires wrapped around the water line, and I definitely had my doubt this little guy would do little if anything, the descaler has been installed for a few weeks, and there is notably less water spotting and scale build-up in the sink and bath tub, and on plumbing fixtures.

I was slightly skeptical about how effective this would be. I was considering a whole house filter, as my water is extremely hard. Even filtered water would leave a white crust on my humidifiers and faucets and deposits build up on my sinks, showers and dishwasher. It’s gross and difficult to clean. This Scalewatcher Nano is super simple to install and requires zero maintenance. I chose a section of the water pipe that comes into my basement that’s close to an outlet. Wrapped the wire around the pipe (following the directions in the provided diagram), plugged it in and was done. Both layers of the wire need to be wrapped in the same direction and there are zip-ties provided to hold it in place. The wire plugs into the main module (like speaker wire). The main module has a regular power port with the other end going in a wall outlet. Two LED lights show power On and signal being Active. The main module is small, about the size of two packs of smokes side by side. It can be attached to wood or sheetrock via the two provided screws. My water actually seemed to look clearer within a few days, But it was tough to confirm that anything was happening yet since it takes some time to take full effect. After a couple of weeks, I stopped finding the white build up! Showering feels different (better) and cleaning the hard water deposits will minimize tenfold. I’m very happy because it’s a real time saver when cleaning, no more scrubbing only to have the residue start again, right after cleaning. It also seems like my soap works better and my laundry is cleaner. I couldn’t be happier with how effective this is and am so glad I came across it! I highly recommend this to anyone who has hard water and problems with water stains and deposits. Hard to believe that these products aren’t more popular.

I have really hard water in my area that causes a lot of lime and rust build up in my shower, toilet and sinks. It also dries my skin and hair out. I've had this installed for about 2 weeks now. It's hard to make a final assessment on it yet because the instructions state that it could take about 90 days for it to clear any buildup from inside your water pipes which could make your water seem worse before it gets better. But even now I can tell a difference especially in my shower. The shower doors do not seem to show the hard water spots like they did previously. And my water actually feels softer. I don't know if that's just in my head or not but I do think it's different and after the initial 90 days is up I'll know for sure. Installation was easy. You just have to have an outlet nearby and you need to install close to where your water enters the house, near your water meter.

I have hard water buildup and hope this descaler will help clean out my pipes and fixtures. My house water pipe comes in behind a water heater, so I was unable to install the coil 6" from any metal as recommended. I installed the coil on a 3/4" copper pipe. When finished, the coil was 2.5" long and the leads to the control box were a little more than 3' long. It powered up and started conditioning without any problems. There are instructions in the manual about how to deal with the deposits cleaned from the pipes during the initial 90 day descaling, including cleaning faucet aerators and draining 5 gallons from the water heater every 90 days. It's rated to use 4 watts of power and my power meter reported a miserly 1.8 watts. We use water sparingly. The water is conditioned only when it's flowing past the coil and the conditioning only lasts 48 hours, so water stored in my water heater may not be conditioned by the time I use it but it will be cleaning out the water heater. It comes with a 4 month satisfaction guarantee, so the most I have to lose is the 45 minutes it took to install the system.

The Scalewatcher Nano comes in a small box that includes all parts needed for a complete install. What's in the box: Scalewatcher Nano Signal Generation Unit 20' of Signal Wire 12 Volt Adaptor With 6' Cable Mounting Hardware and 4 Cable Ties Instruction Book This unit is very simple to install and setup. The install consists of selecting a spot that has at least 4" of exposed water pipe where the signal cable can be wrapped around the pipe multiple times and has access to a 120 volt wall outlet. Mount the signal unit at a comfortable viewing height on a wall then wrap the signal wire around the pipe 18 times in one direction then 18 times in the other direction, starting in the middle of the wire. Connect each end of the wire into the signal unit and plug in the AC adaptor. Then check to make sure that the two LEDs are lit. Now as far as operation and having softer water I have only had mine installed for approximately 3 weeks (as of 2-1-18). In this time I can see no change in the hardness of the water per water hardness test strips (see photos). I don't seem to feel any changes to the water in the shower or bath and the taste and feeling in the mouth seems to be the same. Also we haven't seen any changes to the amount of water spots on our sinks or faucets. To be fair, the instructions say that approximately 90 days are needed to see full benefit of the decaling process. I will post another review in about 90 days if there are any changes in the performance of the descaling unit.

IMPRESSIVE - Great Product. I did a lot of research comparing this to a salt water softener system and this was a better choice for several reasons. No salt to deal with was the main one and the salt water system wastes a lot of water (Depending on how hard your water is). This descaler produces water that is safe for plants and is good for people on a low sodium diet. Also lasts longer than a salt water system and about half the price. Easier to install. No pipes to cut. Just wrap the wire around any type pipe. Copper, PVC, galvanized etc... Just plug it in and forget it. This descaler has a very small footprint and the power cord is about 5 ft 10 in. long. Comes with directions, wire, power cord, mounting hardware and zip ties. I plan on using this with a sediment whole home filter with a tankless water heater to protect the heating element of the heater.
