About This Product

The Ever Sapphire Agapanthus is a high quality new perennial from the Southern Living Plant Collection. It produces bright violet-blue flower clusters that emerge in spring and rebloom into summer. Its early flowering and reblooming nature makes this one of the most prolific bloomers that money can buy. Additionally, each plant will expand into clumps of numerous plants. Each 1 capable of producing their own flower stalks. These plant clumps can expand to 2 ft. W. So you can imagine the huge amount of flowers that they're capable of producing at that point. Plant them in front of hedges, in foundation plantings, as accents in mixed garden beds or in container plantings. They're hardy from USDA Zones 8 to 11 and grow best from Full Sun to Partial Shade (we recommend more than 3-hours of direct sun). They prefer rich garden soil with good drainage and should be watered 3 to 4 times per week for the first growing season. Fertilize in early spring with a light application of balanced slow-release fertilizer. These Ever Sapphire Agapanthus plants are well-established in 2.5 qt. (#1) pots. They will tend to be 5 in. tallto 9 in. tall with a wider spread and they are not guaranteed to be in bloom on arrival.

Questions & Answers

2Questions
caret
Q:Will they survive in Zone 4?
by|Apr 4, 2024
1 Answer
Answer This Question

A:  Ever Sapphire Agapanthus is typically hardy in USDA Zones 8-11, making it unlikely to survive in Zone 4, which experiences colder temperatures. Agapanthus plants are sensitive to frost and freezing temperatures, and Zone 4's harsh winter conditions can pose a significant risk to their survival. If you're determined to grow Agapanthus in Zone 4, consider planting them in containers that can be brought indoors during the winter months or treating them as annuals and replanting them each spring. Alternatively, you might explore other cold-hardy plant options better suited to Zone 4 conditions.

Q:When is the best time to separate bulbs or move them?
    by|Mar 21, 2024
    1 Answer
    Answer This Question

A:  The best time to separate and move agapanthus plants to another location is in early spring or early fall when temperatures are mild, and the plants are not actively growing or flowering. During these times, agapanthus plants are less stressed by transplanting, allowing them to establish their roots in their new location more effectively. It's essential to prepare the new planting site beforehand, ensuring it has well-draining soil and receives adequate sunlight. When transplanting, dig up the entire clump of agapanthus, gently separate the individual plants, and replant them at the same depth as they were previously growing. Water thoroughly after transplanting to help settle the soil and minimize transplant shock.
