Q:How waterproof is this? I've left mine out in the rain a couple times and it works fine. Can it live in the back of my truck bed without dying?

          Well-Designed, Versatile, Easy-To-Use
My review will focus on the DESIGN of RIDGID 3 Gallon Cordless Wet/Dry Vac. First, it is cordless and compact. It fits nicely under my workbench, unlike my previous corded, which also was a bit cumbersome. Second, the hose stores efficiently, unlike most corded. Third, I can quickly grab it and get the job done. I will admit, though, for larger jobs a corded Vac would be better; but this compact, cordless Vac is well-designed and serves it purpose, plus a solid brand.

            Great portable & powerful vac
I've been looking at cordless portable shop vacs for a while. I have many projects around the house where I don't have space for a regular size shop vac. Fist off, I like the fact that a 4 ah battery comes with this unit. I have a stick vac that came with a 2 ah battery and they only last a few minutes. One of the best features of this portable vac is the SWEEP inlet port. This allows you to have the vac sitting on the floor or workbench and just push the debris to the port. You don't need to carry the unit to around. The hose is very short. The unit is pretty light. It is just like carrying around a tool box. The onboard storage compartment to carry the wands is nice. They are easy to access. The battery compartment is at a convenient location. Overall, it does not hold a lot of material but for quick cleanup jobs, its easy to pull out. Its also convenient for cleaning automobiles and powerful enough to lift the dirt from the carpets. The filter is about the same size as a 5 gallon vac. The filter does take up a lot of room within the cavity. Overall I am happy with this product.

Wonderful concept and it works well
I have been pleasantly surprised by this portable vacuum. I loved the concept of a cordless shop vac, as there are many instances where porting the traditional vac is cumbersome and difficult to plug in (cleaning a car, using outdoors, etc.). This unit is also light and easy to carry yet has excellent suction. This unit uses the same 4 Ah batteries that I use for several other Ridgid tools I use regularly. I do like the added feature of a sweeper function where the vac serves as a dustpan, you put it on the ground and sweep debris into the suction area.

Cordless vacuum is easier to use than a corded vac; backed by a lifetime warranty when registered with Ridgid
The Ridgid 3 gallon cordless wet/dry vacuum is so much easier to use than its corded counterparts. When we are working on a renovation project, we keep the areas clean as we move through them. In the past, that meant pulling the corded shop vacuum across the floor while the wheels didn't fully cooperate. This vacuum also eliminates the hassle of moving the plug from one outlet to the next. It is light enough to carry and hold while you vacuum. The Ridgid vacuum has a 6 foot hose so you can reach places without even moving the unit. The suction is adequate as compared with the corded vac's suction. The sweep function allows you to place the unit over your debris and it will pick it up. You can also use a broom to sweep it into the integrated, suction-powered dustpan. The crevice tool and dusting brush attachments are tucked away into a compartment until you need them. The blower feature makes this a versatile addition to your workshop or garage. Our unit came with the 18-volt 4.0 Ah battery and charger. The battery life is displayed on the battery when you press a button. We plan to purchase more Ridgid cordless tools now that we have the battery and charger. You can register your Ridgid vacuum and battery on the Ridgid website 90 days after purchase to take advantage of the lifetime warranty.

            Nice Vacuum But Bulky
The Rigid 18 volt handheld vacuum is a wet or dry with a 3 gallon capacity. While I like the vacuum it is bulky. It has decent suction and it cleaned the inside of my car very well. It has two attachments that are stored in a compartment on the vacuum. It includes a battery, charger, hose, and two attachments. The vacuum takes a standard size filter. The only thing that I dislike is the way the filter is attached. It slips over a plastic retained that is hard to push over. It helps to wet the plastic stud and the rubber filter hole. It would be a much better design to have a threaded post and a plastic threaded nut as a filter retainer.

Functional with useful features and accessories, but compromised by short run time
This is my second cordless shop vacuum, in addition to two corded vacs (one medium, one huge). Plus I have a large assortment of battery tools: drills, drivers, saws, string trimmer and mower. I can mow for an hour. Use the impact driver extensively (though, granted, not continuously) before recharging. . So why do both battery vacuums have such a short run time? Check the Q&A section and RIDGID acknowledges a 13 minute run time (way better than my first battery vac, but still short). . Ignoring the run time, it’s a good vacuum. It has handy on-board storage, a decent length hose (stretches to 6 feet), and a unique “sweeper” function that allows you to connect the hose to a hole in the base of the unit, then slide the unit across your sawdust-strewn floor. It works, but my old knees and back weren’t happy about the posture required ;) . Finally, it’s a bit big and heavy. That comes with the larger capacity and run time, but makes it more tiring to carry around. If you need this form factor, it’s a good choice, but I’m not giving up my full-size corded vacs, and maybe I just need to buy a bunch more batteries for the little one. . Response from RIDGIDApr 24, 2023
Hello Rob, Thanks for writing a review and we’re sorry to have learned your issues. We do have an available chart for the run time of the vacuum at Home Depot. The run time of the HD0320 depends on the "Ah" of the battery you are using. However, the HD0320 already includes a 4 Ah battery which will make the vacuum run average of 13 min. with a full charges 4 Ah battery. You may use select 9 Ah battery with the vacuum to make it run an average time of 29 mins with a full charge 9 Ah battery. You may check the owner's manual for suggested battery you can use with the vacuum. If you have questions or concerns, you may call our Customer Service at 1-800-474-3443 from Monday to Friday between 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM Central Time or send us an email at info@ridgidvacs.com and we'll be glad to assist you. Thanks, RIDGID Ridgid

I really like this Design with out wheels, works great
I really Like this Design with out wheels. This unit is light weight easy to carry around, Has great suction both with hose atachments and when using it just to sweep across something with the bottom suction. It's quiet compare to most other vaccums I have used before. I fine it very easy to clean the attachments store were its out of the way when not in use. I like the hose leangth its just right, and stores easy and stays put when snaped in place. I did charge the battery to full charge before using it the first time. I ran the vaccum for about 5 minutes the firat time cleaning up my tablesaw and the floor around it. I used the bottom sweep on the vaccum to clean the floor and cracks it garage floor. I was suprised it picked up the sawdust out of the garage cracks and they are about 1" deep. Then I opened the unit to check how much it did pick up. I even took off the filter and alot of dust fall off the filter back on my tablesaw top as I was taking pictures. After I put it back together I just vaccumed it up again. My only complant is battery life, after only 5 minutes the battery droped from 4 bars to 3 bars. Then after another 5 minutes and cleaning back up it droped to 2 bars. I was going to give it 4 stars because the batterys drop so fast. But I like how it works so well I still give it 5 stars. If I was going to use it on a job I would make sure the battery is full charges and bring the charger with me or spare batterys ready to rock.

            Good, but could be better.
I only gave it 4 stars instead of 5 because it needs more suction. It works, just not as well as it could. I have used it to clean up the popcorn spilled in my truck, and cleaning up after cutting drywall. I like the toolbox shape of the vacuum. The storage for the attachments is great. Having the exhaust in a covered compartment instead of an exposed outlet disperses it nicely while still giving you access to the port so you can still use it as a blower. It also hides the battery away. One problem with the battery compartment - it is hard to open. Considering that swapping batteries is going to occur fairly, this is going to be a problem. The attachment door is much easier to open. It is easy to empty the vacuum - snap two latches, and the collection tray separates from the rest, so you can dump the contents into a garbage can or bag. When putting it back together, you have to make sure the latches snap all the way closed. The "dustpan" port is a nice touch. You can either use it to pick up dirt by moving the case along the floor, or use a broom and sweep things into it. Both methods work well.

            Very powerful cordless vacuum
Having a battery operated vacuum is a real asset in a rural area. In the past I would have to run extension cords which could stretch to a couple of hundred feet. Now I can just just this portable unit. One thing that I didn't anticipate was the sweeping function with a built-in dustpan. This is a wonderful addition to the vacuum cleaner. I never even thought of having something this easy to use and this effective. I heat my house with a wood stove and there is always a lot of dirt around. This vacuum not only sucks up the dirt and chips it does a flawless job of getting the edges clean too. There are a lot of other features on this unit. The charger is wall mountable, the accessories are in an easily accessible tray on the top of the machine and according to Ridgid the produce has a lifetime warranty on everything including the battery. This is a nice feature since the lithium batteries are so expensive.

            Great little vacuum
Great choice for portable little shop vacuum. The product is a reasonable weight to hold by hand, isn't as ridiculously loud as many shop vacs and has nice features (built in hose plus on device storage for brush/crevice ends, blower functionality, flat surface sweeper vacuum function, able to handled wet and dry). The downsides to this product include relatively short run time per battery, only includes one filter and hose could be longer.
