This is one of the better shock treatments out there. It always leaves the pool clear and is easy to use. I think there is something in "Max Blue" that isn't in other shocks.

Response from Pool Time SupportSep 18, 2023
Hi. We are the manufacturer of PoolTime products. We appreciate your feedback and are sorry to hear that your recent experience with our MAXBlue2 Shock fell short of expectations. Oftentimes, cloudiness and algae situations come down to frequent shocks to sustain an elevated chlorine level in order to fully suppress and resolve the issue. Keep in mind some cloudiness may not be oxidizable and only filterable so focusing on proper circulation and filtration methods also come to mind. We would love the opportunity to discuss your experience with the shock so please give us a call at 800-252-7665 at your earliest convenience. PoolTime

With this hot weather we are having, it doesn’t take long for algae to appear. I throw in a package of max blue shock when my filter is running and it takes care of any algae problems that might occur.

          Misleading product
This product contains a lot of cyanuric acid without stating that anywhere on the label. It is Dichlor, which is approximately 50% CYA. I couldn’t understand why I kept “shocking” my pool with this stuff and yet my free chlorine was always zero. I have a salt -> chlorine generator, so I usually keep the chlorine around 1-2 ppm and need very little CYA, about 15 ppm. This raised it to at least 60 ppm before I figured it out. I’ll never use it again.

Response from Pool Time SupportApr 24, 2024
Hi Journeymnn. We are the manufacturer of PoolTime products. While the Shock Maxblue 2 does contain stabilizer, it will not lead to an inability to hold chlorine and will only help retain it. Having a stabilizer level less than about 30 ppm will result in a pool to struggle to hold chlorine due to the UV rays from the sun. A chlorine demand is another common cause of free chlorine issues which is an abundance of contaminants in pool water from the environment, source water, people, man-made chemicals and a number of other sources that first need to be oxidized in order to hold chlorine. Because salt cells produce chlorine at a very slow rate, a surge of contaminants can easily result in the cell struggling to catch back up to maintaining a chlorine residual. We would love the opportunity to discuss your experience with the shock so please give us a call at 800-252-7665 at your earliest convenience. PoolTime
