Q:Hello. Can this be installed between osb decking and rafters on a roof? Thanks

    1 Answer
    Answer This Question

A:  Hello kvetty, Owens Corning Foamular can be used between rafters. Please note that due to the size of the product and the rafter spacing this project may be labor intensive. Adding Foamular against the roof deck will create an unvented attic. We also suggest checking with your shingle manufacture and local building codes for ventilation requirements. Thank you for your inquiry!

          Dirty foam
I bought the pink insulation to put up in my bedroom to soften noise from next door. The 4x8 sheet must gave laid around the store for some time because it’s filthy. I picked it up at curbside and didn’t get to choose a cleaner sheet.

Owens corning (4x8) 2inch unfaced insulation panel boards made huge impact on air temp in home.
Used to insulate crawl space and unfinished basement on 1,600 sq ft home. Cut to fit in between floor joists. This material was easy to manage, very little mess, no fiberglass in my skin, and made a very huge impact on interior of house. I wouldn’t definitely recommend this product to insulate home.

I have used this insulation on several projects
This 2 inch foam insulation has been used on several projects in the last 10 years. Last year I built a 6 ft by 9 ft temporary RV to use on a job, now I use it as a storage shed. This year I am building a 5 ft by 12 ft trailer and I'm using it again because it worded so well. Sadly the price has increased by about 33% from $32 to around $39 but still worth it to me.

I've used this product for several applications. In this case I have a room under our front porch, which is mostly underground; I want to turn it into a wine cellar. Doing this will help control the temperature enough to store wire, I hope. It won't be anything fancy, but I figured using this rigid insulation will not take up as much space & I don't need to build any kind of stud wall to install it. I am gluing it to the walls with a construction adhesive specifically for foam insulation. It does need to be clamped in place in order to the glue to hold the foam as I intended. To cut the product I simply score it with a utility knife on both sides & snap it like dry wall. I routed out a channel for wiring, which worked well.

After researching the net for insulation not only for a crawl space and a basement I felt this would be the best product for the application. This was easy cutting this Formular 150 R-10 2" insulation in any dimension via a Olfa knife, circular saw and or a table saw. I completed most of my cuts prior to installation and installation was much easier and time efficient. I have already completed the installation 11/23/18 on the crawl space (encapsulated the crawl) and have already observed a savings in heating costs by 18% and the floors are much warmer by 8 degrees. I no longer smell the dank crawl space and the interior environment of the house has improved 100%. I am not encapsulating the basement; however, I will use this on all of the walls and fascia boards to effectively do the same as the crawl. I have calculated the return on investment at approximately 18 to 24 months. I would highly recommend this product and it definitely met my expectations.
