A:  Hi, this ites has its heat radiation on its top and two sides, and it requires min 3inch clearance from wall. It is not suitable to place in a cabinet if clearance is less than the required distance.

          Kalamera Single Zone 12/Wine Cooler/fridge
The wine cooler/fridge is nicely designed. However, it is noisy. It’s not noisy all the time. Whenever it makes the noise, it’s a mild humming sound. It keeps the wine cold, but I was not aware it was not self defrosting. The humming became louder than usual and once I unplugged it, cleared the contents, there was a sheet of frozen ice, the length of the back wall of the cooler. The manual doesn’t indicate that it has to be defrosted. I am not pleased with this issue.

          Nice Fridge with some quirks
Out of the package, the fridge is nice and sleek, with a nice digital display that allows for temperature control, light settings, etc. There is a screen lock button so that it won't change due to accidental touch. There is a nice, solid seal on the door and everything seems relatively high quality. One of the feet can be screwed in or out to help with leveling issues. My gripe is that the inside is a touch too tight. It will only accomodate wine in a standard, straight bodied bottle. Bottles of literally any other shape (with a slight flair or rounded in any way, as many white wines come in) you're going to have trouble getting them in side-by-side. On some rows you'd need to put one bottle in top first and the other bottom first in order to fit together. It's almost silly to complain about - The inside, in my mind, is 1/2 inch too narrow. Then again, this is a pure luxury product so the bar on expectations should be higher. It's a good price point on a self described entry level product so I would recommend overall.

          It's OK...
The GOOD: The design is beautiful. It's modern, slick, and is just the right size for my needs. Also, it seems well constructed. Door opens and closes easily, and bottles seem to stay in place. The touch controls at the top of the door work well when pressed for adjusting the temp and turning the light on/off. The feet are also adjustable in case you place it on a not-so-level floor. Nice feature. The not so great: (This is my personal opinion, and these things may not be important to others). - It's noisy. I've checked to make sure nothing is loose in the back and the noise is not the bottles inside vibrating on the shelves. The compressor makes an annoying buzzing/humming sound when it turns on. I measured the sound level and it's 42dB at 2' away. After receiving the unit, I let it sit it its upright position for 24 hours before plugging it in, which it states in the instructions. Also, after plugging it in, I let the temp "stabilize" (which it states to do for 24 hours). I set the temp to the lowest setting possible which is 40°. Even with our indoor house temp at 74° it cannot seem to maintain the 40° temp in the fridge. When checking periodically throughout the day, it will show 42° or sometimes 44°. Random temps. Also, if you open the door for even 4-5 seconds, you'll lose at least 6-8° of cooling, to which it then takes a few hours for the temp to come back down again. I'm sure this varies due to usage and indoor temperature, but I monitored the functionally randomly for a few days. It cycles with 2 mins On, 4 mins Off repeatedly. While this is all fine, the noise of the power cycling can become a bit annoying. Ultimately, my personal opinion is this is best suited to have installed inside an enclosed kitchen cabinet of some sort. Or, possibly in a basement where noise is not much of a concern. For me, I have no additional room in my kitchen, so I have it in a nice spot under our bar area which is connected to a large 20'x14' room. If you're sitting in the room and watching TV for example, it's hard to ignore the compressor noise cycling on/off. Maybe there is an issue with this particular unit. Not sure, but suppose we'll be able to confirm if other reviewers chime in about it. Maybe it will clear up in another week or so. We shall see. Other than that, it looks great and the wine is chilled for the most part.

Attractive, convenient size, maintains constant even temperature but just entry level quality.
This Kalamera model KRC-18SS just did not quite meet my expectations. It is promoted as an entry level single zone wine cooler and for that purpose has an affordable price. It is an attractive appliance which does not take up a lot of space. I set the cooling temp at 54 degrees and it reached the temp in about 12 hours and has maintained that temp within a variation range of 2 degrees. The touch control panel is located at the top side of the appliance door. It is fairly simple to set and use. The door is free swinging and will open fully until the face of the door, hinge side, meets the edge of the appliance body. If this contact is too hard, the door edge that contacts the appliance body will “crease”; so be careful with that. The wine shelves are metal with just one fairly shallow stop point. The wine bottles sit loosely on shallow arched notches. If the shelf is pulled beyond the stop point there is nothing to impede shelf removal and it will come out and if pulled too far with bottles there is the real possibility of the shelf and wine bottles ending up on the floor. The shelves are adjustable but since they are metal, the combination of glass and metal makes for a somewhat noisy and awkward combination. This is a single zone appliance so both red and white wines are cooled the same. The wine cooler is very quiet until the compressor kicks on and it is fairly noisy while the compressor is running. If the wine cooler is kept in an area away from the common gathering areas of the house, it may not be noticeable, but it is almost as loud as the refrigerator. I attribute these negatives to the entry level appliance and entry level quality. However, if the goal is to get this type of specialty appliance for just keeping wine at a constant cooling temp without spending a lot of money, this appliance will fit the purpose very well. The appliance is good but it just fell short of my expectations. If you want a dual zone appliance or one with wood shelving features, you will have to go for a more expensive appliance; otherwise this appliance is ok for entry level quality and price.

          Well Made Wine Cooler
This Kalamera standalone wine cooler can hold up to 18 bottles and looks great, allowing you to place it just about anywhere in your home. You can stand ill-fitting bottles in the bottom by removing shelves. You can also lay up to three bottles at an angle at the bottom (tilting front to back). The wine cooler arrives exceptionally well packaged. You should not power the wine cooler on for 24 hours once you have unpackaged and placed the cooler where you intend to use it. This allows the cooling compressor to stabilize from being moved around during shipping. I live on the east coast and this product shipped from California, so there was a lot of movement. The default temperature is in Celsius but by pressing and holding the far-left lock button on the glass control panel for three seconds, the temperature will display in Fahrenheit. Note if you simply press the lock button once, it will lock or unlock the control panel. This prevents others from adjusting the temperature. You can adjust the temperature up or down in one-degree increments by pressing the up and down arrows on the front glass panel. The unit has a single zone which means the temperature you set applies to the entire unit. The lowest setting you can apply is 40 degrees Fahrenheit. A nice feature is an interior light which you can turn on/off via the front panel (far right button). It is recommended that you do not install this (or any other refrigerator) unit in the direct sunlight. Like any refrigerating unit that uses a compressor, you will hear noises when the compressor engages, that is normal. I found the noises not to be too loud or annoying. The wine cooler is made with a plastic interior, see-through glass front, black stainless steel door trim, and metal casing. The unit weighs some 45 pounds and is a solid, sturdy, attractive, quality product. Kalamera also offers a 12-bottle version of this wine cooler as well as a 24-bottle version.

          Perfect size
Well, I don't drink wine, but I always keep large bottles of Pellegrino, Sparkling Lemonade, Tea, etc. around for me and for guests. They take up too much room in my refrigerator and a mini-fridge takes up too much room. This is the perfect solution; it is just 13.6 in. wide and 17.5 in. deep. On top of that, it looks great. The controls are easy to use and the light is optional. The wire racks come in and out and can be arranged to accommodate different sized bottles. One thing I am going to have to figure out is something to lay over the wire shelf to allow shorter bottles or cans to fit without falling through. For now, plenty of room at the bottom for several cans.

          Wine Cooler with Glass Door
The Kalamera Single Zone 18-Bottle Free Standing Compressor Wine Cooler with Glass Door arrived in good time and was well packaged. The operating instructions were well versed and complete. it operates with a given range of temperature and it chilled down very rapidly. We typically use the larger wine bottles so it holds 8 large bottles with one smaller bottle. This will come in very handy for. Good job.

Overall a Great Little Wine Cooler
This is a nice looking, great sized wine/beer cooler holding a dozen bottles. Stainless door makes for a modern look. Bottles can go in either direction. Top shelf is short so will hold shorter bottles of wine or beer, taller bottles will have to be moved down in the cooler. I like the digital control to set exact temperature. They really missed by not having adjustable feet to level the unit on hardwood floors that have variations. The compressor is noticeable when on but not bad for noise level nor length of time running. A perfect addition for any wine enthusiast.

          Great looking wine cooler
Let me start out by saying that with its stainless steel and see-through glass door this is a wine cooler that you will not want to hide. It’s beautiful and will look good anywhere in your home. I have mine in my dining room right next to my antique pump organ, and everyone comment on how great it looks. The cooler has an internal light to show off your wine collection. The wine cooler is not so bag as to be overwhelming in a room (It measures 17 ½” wide, 17 ½”, deep and 29” high) and yet it will hold 24 bottles of “still” wine like whites or roses, or in my case, since I really like champagne it will hold 10 bottles of champagne(champagne bottles are bigger so I had to remove a shelf) and 8 bottles of white/ rose wine. More than enough to get a good party going. Another thing that you will like is how quiet it is. It’s quieter than my kitchen refrigerator. When we have guests over and we sit down to dinner in our dining room you can’t hear a thing from the cooler. It just sits there and looks elegant. I can’t say how energy efficient it is because it is too new to have a energy rating, but I’m sure it will use less electricity than an electric car, and be a lot more fun. I keep my wine cooler set at 40 degrees, but you can set it from 40 degrees F to 66 degrees F. Why you would want to keep wine at 66 degrees I don’t know, but its there if you need it that warm. Maybe it would work to incubate chicken eggs at that temperature. One other important point, if you have teenagers, it comes with a key so it can be locked to prevent any unplanned wild parties when you’re not home. Not that that has ever happened to me. You will be very pleased with this wine cooler.

          Starter wine collection
The Kalamera wine cooler will help me start collecting wine I purchase on vacations and receive as gifts. I can also have more space in my fridge. For now the 12-bottle single zone wine cooler should hold enough since the bottles usually do not last long in our household. On the other hand we can have enough storage for our small gatherings of friends and families. I can inventory before I go to the store just by turning on the light feature and looking through the glass door. I can also store other drinks and spirits too. Installation was easy and having a freestanding unit makes it easy to setup. It took a few days for the temperature to settle, but the temperature control works great. There is only a slight humming of the unit and it does not bother me. The LED controls are nice and easy to use. This is a nice starter unit for our home.
