About This Product
HydroRail-R allows you to easily upgrade a standard shower to a spa-like showering experience with luxurious overhead rain and hand shower functionality. It's designed to accommodate a wide array of shower configurations without altering in-wall plumbing, making it suitable for both remodels and new construction. This shower column converts your single-outlet showerhead into a two-outlet custom showering experience, and has a slide bar bracket for easy height and angle adjustments to your hand shower. For smooth toggling between hand shower and rain head functions, this column features a diverter conveniently located at the base.

Beware of the O-Rings
We purchased this system 9 years ago when we built our custom home. It worked fine until this year at which time the upper connection of the HydroRail began to leak behind our wall. The culprit was failure of the two o-rings that are on the nipple that comes out of the wall and connects to the HydroRail (see photo). There is no way to know how long the leak had been occurring, but by the time we discovered it we had a steady stream of water coming out of the fitting behind the shower wall. We are now into an extensive restoration project as a result. As I understand it, all HydroRail systems from Kohler use this o-ring setup. So, unless you want to disassemble your shower fixture periodically to check and/or replace your o-ring, you might want to go a different route.

Im very disappointed with Kohler. They have a reputation of making stellar products, however, their manufacturing and marketing distributions need work. I was unaware that this product had different sizes. It was not stated on their website when I did my research, thus getting this hydrofoil, which is extremely tall. I also ordered several Kohler shower heads, 4 to be exact, and only one was still available...the others were no longer available. This is very frustrating when you look for a product on their website and find out that you can not get any products.
And there is not place to really look at these products before you purchase and pay someone to install them. Now it is too late. This is a very tall long rail for my shower....tooooo tall. Luckily, I have a tall shower space. IT works ok.
Do your research first before you purchase this product. Just saying!!!

Excellent option!
If you have one valve and you want to have two options - a rainhead as well as a handheld - this is a wonderful option. I am very happy with it!

Expensive but designed for failure
In 2019, we did a major remodel of our master bathroom that afforded us a very large two person shower with dual rain showers. The contractor opted for the Kohler Hydro Rail shower column. About two months ago the valve that directs water to the rain shower or to the hand wand began to fail, meaning water started coming from both. A local plumber said the design prevented access/replacement of this valve and we would have to order an entirely new one. Took a bit to find it but we did and wow, it was expensive. I should have replaced both with something else that was just as good but cheaper and allowed for this valve to be serviced. Terrible design/engineering.

Amazing Retrofit option, Thank you Kohler!
Just moved into a home and the shower head was a little on the lower side for my preference. I searched for showerhead extenders and came across this. It is a little pricey but I decided to splurge for my master bath. I have the brushed nickel version and so far it doesn't show water marks like the brand new moen valve trim kit I bought for the old valve. I added the kohler 10" rain shower head and the 3 spray 4.3" Awaken handheld shower. Also bought the 60" hose. So pleased with final results. A plumber installed it so I can't say if it was easy or not.
