Q:does it need to be screwed onto something or will freestanding bend #4 rebar

Answer This Question

A:  It needs to be Bolted to a 2"x8" wide and about 60" long board to be used safely.

by|Jul 13, 2023

A:  I did not use it until I screwed it down to a 4x8 sheet of 3/4” OSB

    by|Apr 18, 2022

A:  It has holes for bolting.  I biked it to a 2” base and ended up ripping it out.  So the base needs to withstand a lot of pressure.  Currently use it free standing but it’s a pain in the butt that way unless it’s on the floor.

      by|Jul 13, 2023

A:  Screwing it to a board is recommended, 2x6 or wider is standard industry practice. Helps most with stability

        by|Jul 13, 2023

A:  I've bent over 1000ft of #4 without bolting it down and only went pole vaulting once or twice :)

Q:Will the bender bend a the Cal Code required 3" diameter bend?

            Answer This Question

A:  5/8" is the maximum capacity for this cutter. Thank you SJ

            by|Apr 17, 2023

A:  None of these rebar benders appear to bend to a diameter of bend spelled out in ICC code: "The diameter of the bend, measured on the inside of the bar, is not less than six-bar diameters." So for a #4 rebar, that is a bend diameter of 3", and 3.75" for #5

Love it. Bends #4 with ease, and a full bend is pretty well on 90 degrees. Haven’t used it to cut as I have a saw for that.

First, it will not cut 5/8" rebar; total lie. 5/8" will not even fit into the jaws. Second, you had better have a couple young strong guys using it if for the day; otherwise take this thing to the nearest garage sale or return it. buy a powered unit and you'll thank me.

I’ve used a lot of rebar cutter/benders over the years that I’ve worked in construction, some good, others not so much. So when my last cutter “walked off the job” I was a little nervous about buying a replacement that didn’t work as well. I needn’t have worried, this cutter worked better than the last one that I had, and that one worked well. It cuts smoothly and easily, bends quickly and with tight bends. I have only cut #4 rebar so far, I know that #5 is not easy for any cutter/bender that I’ve used, but is should work at least as well as the other benders that I’ve used. I would recommend this tool, and would buy it again.

This thing is excellent. I've used several of these in the past, this one required much less brute force to use.
