Q:Can the 3/8 side thread on to a female faucet line and the 1/4 in side thread on ice maker line?

Answer This Question

A:  Not this one. These thread won’t match like thread. They do have some that will work if you search for brass compression fitting. Look for one that says 3/8 by 1/4 npt I’d guess.

A:  Maybe this one? I think it’s right. Your friend has shared a link to a Home Depot product they think you would be interested in seeing. https://www.homedepot.com/p/Everbilt-3-8-in-x-1-4-in-OD-Compression-Brass-Reducing-Coupling-Fitting-801229/20717

Q:My 1/4" blue plastic tubing will fit right onto one side and my 3/8" blue plastic tubing for my RO unit with fill right onto the other side? Both will stay put? To be sure, is the blue plastic tubing measured on the outside diameter or the inside diameter of the tubing? Thank you for your previous answer!

          Answer This Question

A:  If your current tubing has female compression ends they will thread onto the fitting directly. If they do not have female compression ends and are bare tubes you would use the nut to compress the ferule onto the tube. Compression fittings grab the outside of the tubing so the measurement they fit will be the outside diameter of the tube. If you have to use the nut and ferrule please note they are one time use fittings and if you over tighten them you have to cut them off and use a new ferrule. Best practice is to tighten compression fittings by hand then add 1/4” turn with a wrench. Turn on the water supply slowly and then tighten the fitting with a wrench until it stops leaking. That will ensure it is tight enough to seal without overtightening.

            Answer This Question

A:  In order to properly respond to this question we would need additional information. We would need to know what size tube was being used with the fitting. In order to get a complete response, please reach out to Customer Care and they can put you in touch with the manufacturer.

Easy to use and works exactly how I expected it to! I even ended up shortening one section of the piping so I was able to pop it off and re-place it
