Q:When fully charged should (can) the batteries be left in the mower when not in use?

    Answer This Question

A:  Yes but it's better to keep batteries in a room temperature location. I guess it depends where you keep your mower.

      Answer This Question

A:  Impossible question to answer. Depends on the type of grass, moisture of grass, height of grass, thickness of grass, how much you are trying to take off, whether you are mulching or bagging/rear discharge, etc., but 30-90 mins.

They got it right this generation
I'll keep this short, I owned the gen I DCMW220 and both the gen II FWD DCMWSP244 and RWD DCMWSP255 models. This gen III model has fixed all the flaws of the previous generations. Power is up, runtime is up, lighter, smaller, more maneuverable. The one caveat is that the self propelled feature is now an electric motor, so you cannot feather the speed as much as you could with the old belt/pulley design of the gen II. Still have a variable speed dial, but not a variable speed trigger so to speak.

            Worthless piece of garbage
For the first two years, you may be able to get up to 30 minutes of mowing in. So if you have a very small yard, or just need to do a little touchup, it will probably get you by. But after that, the batteries won’t keep the mower running for more than a few seconds. And replacement batteries cost almost as much as the mower. Run away!

                I love this mower!
First I would like to point out that the lawnmower comes they rather large box and is somewhat heavy. Keep this in mind if you are by yourself, and not very strong as you may need help removing the lawnmower from the box. I have two torn rotator cuffs, and found it somewhat difficult to remove by myself, but it was not impossible and I got it done. The lawnmower comes well packaged. While unpacking the items I was surprised to find that there was no owners manual. There were some QR codes on it to scan that gave you short videos about how to work the handle. These were helpful but I was hoping that I did not have to scan QR codes to figure out how to work the machine. I finally found the owners manual in the battery compartment of the mower. The first thing I will say about the owners manual is when you open up the first page on the right hand side is a diagram of the mower with all the different parts numbered. But you have to flip to the next page to look and see the name of each of the numbered items. I found this most inconvenient and poor planning for whoever made up the owners manual. However, it’s not a dealbreaker . I also found on the next few pages, lots of diagrams with arrows, pointing this way in that way with no explanations, and was somewhat confused. However, as you move on through the owners manual, you get to the part where it explains each of those diagrams. Once I finally got through all of that , there really wasn’t anything to assemble. I put the batteries on the chargers and played around with the different pieces that control how the grass is expelled from the mower. You have the choice of ejecting it to the side, mulching, or bagging. One thing I particularly like is that it is easy to change out the pieces to change the way the grass is expelled. By making this easy, it makes one much more likely to use the different features. The next day my batteries were charged, and I put them in the mower and proceeded to test it out. At this point most of the grass is not very high, so it was really hard to tell how well it cut. I found that it was very easy to raise and lower the deck to control how high or low it cuts the grass. The one button folding handle is exactly that. You push one button and the handle will fold down and lock into place on the top of the machine. With this feature you are able to store the mower vertically against the wall to take up less room . This is quite helpful. Also, I like the fact that on the handle, it has a dashboard with different features. It shows you how much battery life you have left, tells you if the handle is not locked into position, it tells you how heavy of a load your cutting, and it tells you when your blades need to be sharpened . All very useful information. I tried cutting with the mulching feature first, and I like this feature as it chops the grass and leaves into small pieces and leaves them on the lawn to decompose and act as fertilizer. I then switched to having it eject out the side, and found that that worked well. Then I put the bagging unit on and found it transferred the grass and leaves into the bag very well. The Bag is very easy to attach to the mower and to detach for emptying. The bag also has a handle at the top to grasp to help while emptying it. I then took the mower down to my pollinator garden and mowed an area that has become overgrown because I can’t get my riding lawnmower into it. I found the mower handled this growth with no problem, and did a very nice job of it. The dashboard did show me that it was cutting a heavier load than what it had been doing. The specs say that you should get about 90 minutes of mowing time with the two batteries. I would say that is accurate as I mowed for about 80 minutes and had one bar left on the battery. I really do not have anything negative to say about this machine. I am quite pleased to have it as I have lots of areas where I have plants and I cannot get in with my riding mower and I have had to weed whack all of it. This mower is definitely going to cut down on the amount of weed whacking that I will need to do. I find all of the features on it to be very easy to use which makes it much more likely that I will actually use the machine instead of it sitting in my garage. This mower is perfect for someone with a small to medium sized yard or someone like myself That has lots of obstacles that make it difficult to use riding mower in some of the areas. I would definitely recommend this mower.

                Excellent Early Morning Lawn Mower
This is my first Battery Powered Lawn Mower. I decided to make the switch from Gas Powered to Battery Powered because it was time for a new mower and I prefer to cut the grass early in the morning when it is cooler outside and there is less sun. Mostly my family and sometimes my neighbors would complain about the noise early in the morning on Saturday or Sunday. I have used this mower for the past two weekends and my family and neighbors did not even realize I had cut the grass. One of my neighbors actually asked if I had given up mowing my yard and hired a lawn service. This mower is easy to assemble from the box. It also folds up easily to store and therefore takes up less space in you shed or garage. It has four blades instead of two blades that my gas powered mower had. It comes with a mulcher, bag and side grass discharger. The mulcher and bag perform about the same as my gas powered lawn mower and the side grass discharger out performs the one on my old gas powered lawn mower because it attaches in the back where the bag is attached instead of being built into the side like most gas powered mowers. Initially the batteries (it comes with two and uses both of them) took four hours to charge and I still have 1/2 of the charge remaining after cutting the grass two weekends in a row. I have not tried to recharge them. I have about 1/4 of an acre of grass to cut and have used this mower twice so you could probably cut 1 acre of grass on a single charge. There is a cutting load indicator on the mower that indicates the load on the motor. It is March and I live in Central Florida so the grass is not growing as fast and as thick this time of year as it does in the summer. The load indicator was always low when I was using the mower so I can only assume that in the summer when the grass grows faster and thicker the indicator will be higher and the battery will not last as long. This mower is not self propelled but it is much lighter than a gas powered mower so I found that it was easier to push then my old front wheel drive gas powered mower. As far as performance it was equal to that of my old gas powered mower as far as cutting the grass and the amount of grass that was collected when using the bag. You can also mow over small twigs or branches that are equal in size to anything a similar size gas power mower can handle. When using the side grass discharger this mower out performed my old gas powered mower in the amount of grass that was discharged. This battery powered mower does not have a throttle but it does have auto sensing technology that increases the throttle when you are in overgrowth areas. This is a benefit as you do not have to stop mowing to adjust the throttle. The one drawback to no throttle is that it does not pick up as many oak tree leaves as my old gas powered mower because this time of year I would leave the throttle on the gas powered mower on high and it would pick up about 75% of the oak leaves where as this mower picks up about 50% of the oak leaves. This mower is easy to raise and lower to adjust the height at which you want to cut the grass as it has one lever that raises or lowers all four wheels. This battery powered mower also comes with a key that only has to be inserted for it to work. You do not have the turn the key. The key is inserted on the underside of the control panel where you hold on to the mower. I mention this because although the key has not fallen out yet it could potentially fall out and then the mower would not start. There is a slot in the key that I plan on looping a cord through and then attaching the other side of the cord to the mower so that I do not lose the key. One improvement for the key would be for this mower to come with a cord that the key attaches to so that if it did fall out while mowing or transporting the mower you would not lose the key. If the Key could clip to the cord then you could easily unclip it if you wanted to keep it somewhere else. Altogether this is a great mower performance wise and the best thing about it is that it is extremely quiet.

Cordless Battery Mower With Plenty Of Power.
Mower is packaged well. Following directions printed on the box for opening box results in mower rolling right out on its wheels. No lifting or tools needed. Unfortunately the paper instructions are packed inside the battery box. Using the yellow handle unlock button to raise the push handle up out of the storage position makes it easier to get into the battery box.. There are 2 batteries included and 2 chargers. Initial charging took 4 hours. Mower will not work with just 1 battery. Cutting height adjustment is very easy using just 1 lever that does all 4 wheels at once. A mulching cap is installed but a left discharge chute and a grass catcher bag is included. Changing between these attachments is very easy. Bigger plastic wheels makes pushing and maneuvering this 21 inch mower quite easy. Mower is quieter than expected. There are 2 mower blades that appear to be specially made for this series. The mower deck is made from steel. Push handle height is a bit tall at 42" with wheel cutting height set at #3. A more adjustable push handle height would be nice. The 2 settings is not enough for shorter people. The instructions can be a challenge to follow to set mower up and operate. Mower did a great job on 6 inch grass. Motor shifts speeds according to power needed for grass thickness. Mowed over 1 hour with power to spare. Control panel on push handle monitors power usage and levels and safety information and lock outs. A plastic key must be used to operate the mower to prevent accidentally starting during storage. Overall a nice lite duty mower.

                Just what the doctor ordered
This DEWALT XR Brushless battery operated lawnmower, is just what I was looking for. It is absolute fabulous and I already named her Bumblebee, becauseof the black and yellow colors. It comes in a nice box, all folded neatly, as the handle folds completely down to reduce space, brilliant. The mower comes with 2- 20v batteries and two chargers, so you can charge both at the same time. Note, it took about 6hrs to fully charge the batteries, so better to charge them overnight if you have to cut your lawn the next day. Assembly took about 10 minsafter lifting out of the box. Its not heavy at all and its very easy to push and pull. The instructions could use some work as it was a jumbled bunch of confusing pictures with numbers. But I got around that because there were only three parts to switch if cutting with deflector shield or using the bag. Make sure to put the bag clips under the bag frame handle first, or else you will have to unclip the bag to start over. The number one thing that got me loving this cordless lawnmower, is the noise level or lack thereof. I mean this thing is super quiet, about the same loudness as a stick vacuum, now thats sweet. The second, is the ability to fold flat for storage, either flat or vertical, as there are no oils to leak out if vertical. The mulch bag does an excellent job, although some of the cuttings accumulated right at the lip of the bag causing some to spill out when I removed the bag, but not a deal breaker though. The mower does come with a safety key that needs to be removed if you are storing the mower with the batteries inside. This is to prevent accidental starts, even though it takes two additional steps to start it, but better safe than sorry especially around children. You may need to put a cord on the key so as not to lose it. I did my small lawn and two of my elderly neighbors medium sized lawns plus swale and the batteries only went down one bar on the handle led indicator. Took about 15-20mins to complete. The wheels were large enough to maneuver through the grass and uneven areas with no problems. And thats exactly what I need to complete my Saturday mornings task. I can find no negative things yet to say about this electric mower and I believe I will have many enjoyable days of mowing.

                Nice mower
Good little, lightweight push mower with bag and mulch features. Handy for trim work. Pros: Long battery life Easily maneuvers around things and through the grass. Bag attaches and removes quickly Mulches very well Cons: Battery compartment door does not stay up making install/uninstall of batteries a bit difficult, door itself is flimsy. Power bar is uncomfortable on handle, not fitted nicely Louder than I expected

                No bag for the win!
I have owned a different brand battery powered mower since 2014. It's huge downfall is you must bag. When the DeWalt arrived and I could mow as a mulch feature or discharge I was thrilled! This is a game changer. My other mower is 16" and DeWalt's is 21" which doesn't seem like much but in the hot Florida sun, it's appreciated to finish faster. Right now the yard is looking poorly due to water restrictions and some wispy weed flowers that have enjoyed our mild winter. DeWalt's dual blade actually cut them off rather than the folding them over that I've normally experienced. I used it on wheel height 2 and only had to go over it once. Being metal it is heavier than my other one so I need to adjust to that. The folding handle feature is easy to use and well designed. While the dual blade is probably what is doing such a great job with the wispy weeds, the cost of replacing them is ever in the back of my mind.

                Setup/storage is awesome
Putting some time aside on the weekend to assemble and setup wasn’t necessary for this mower. Following directions on the box to cut one side was the perfect way to unbox. After getting out of the box there was no further setup needed. After charging the batteries it was as smooth as could be asked. Couple of things that could have made it a little simpler was to put something to indicate the instructions were in the battery compartment. Thought I was going to have to lookup the manual online. But installing the battery allowed me to locate the manual and safety key inside the battery compartment. Speaking of the safety key, they need to label where the key inserts on the handle. The mower will not run without the key installed. Using the mower was easy, power on and pull the handle. Seemed to be plenty of power to mow the lawn or use as a trimming mower. Battery power seemed adequate as well, trimmed the entire yard and got the areas that were not accessible with a riding mower. Cleanup was easy just an air hose with some compressed air made it a breeze. The storage feature is really convenient, one click and you can fold the mower to take up very limited space. (See picture). Un folding is just as easy, as well as being able to move the mower while it’s folded.
