About This Product

LevelQuik RS (Rapid Setting) Self-Leveling Underlayment helps level floors prior to the installation of ceramic tile, natural stone, resilient flooring, carpet, wood and other floor coverings. This quick-setting underlayment can be applied to 1.5 in. (3.8 cm) thick in one pour and seeks its own level in minutes. With proper installation, the use of LevelQuik RS can achieve an extra heavy rating for high impact use in food plants, dairies, breweries and kitchens. LevelQuik RS helps eliminate installation problems such as bond failure, crumbling and staining of resilient flooring caused by the free moisture found in traditional underlayment.

Existing floor had failed under toilet due to inadequate structural support. Installed additional floor joists, covered with plywood, primed (with LevelQuik), then stapled metal lath to plywood. Mixed LevelQuik RS with 4.5 quarts of cold water for 2 minutes to a nice and smooth consistency. Poured to 1-1/2” thick depth (approximately: 4 sq-ft area) to meet fire code (multi-family housing). Completed floor repair is smooth and level.

Worked excellent, I put the max range of water mix in and it made the mix very manageable. Final product was very smooth, its hard to mess it up unless you just go way too slow or don't mix well. Definitely want a buddy system where someone is mixing the whole time with a one bucket in, one bucket out system. Great product. Estimate high for bag use, it doesn't go a long way if you have gaps more than 1/4"

Easy and effective

After reading all the tips in the reviews I was a good bit apprehensive but decided to go with the "6 quart crowd". I have a roughly 35 sq.ft. bathroom floor. Highest and lowest spot: 1/2 to 3/4 inch. The floor at the opposite wall was the high spot and about 3/8" than the tub. I filled my mixing bucket and 3 more with 1-1/2 gallon each of cold (COLD!) water, then dumped half a bag into the mixing bucket while mixing one handed wth an egg beater style mixer, then dumped the other half in and mixed for 2 minutes. Poured from the back of the toilet flange to the middle of the room and mixed the next bag. Poured that on the rest of the floor and it was plenty. Used a squeegee to push it into the corners and mix the two pours where they met. Next day it is hard and level. Easy-peezy!

Did not self-level

Followed instructions on bag and in video. When floor dried - it was still uneven. I have used different brands multiple times before, and never had any problems. Would definitely not recommend this product, as it is not self-levelling.

Totally Recommend!

I never write reviews but I was nervous about using this after reading some of the negative stuff. I’m installing LVP in my basement and had a significant slope near the drain in the utility room. In about a 15 sq ft area, the difference is about 1-1/4”. After reading some reviews here and suggestions elsewhere on the internet, I mixed a full bag with roughly 6 L of about 60 deg F water. Water goes in the pail first, then dump in the bag of cement. I rented an electric mixer from HD and mixed at high speed (~700 RPM) and mixed until I noticed a milkshake like consistency which only took 2-3 minutes. I poured the bucket out and it totally leveled itself, without any help. I mixed a second bag in the same way, poured it around the perimeter of the previous batch and it again leveled itself. I helped feather out the edges with a trowel but otherwise didn’t do anything else and didn’t end up with a ridge between the two pours. The packaging was true to its words and I was able to walk on it 4 hours later. I’ve NEVER done anything like this before and especially considering the negative experiences other have had, I’m amazed how easy it was.

Do It Yourself - Tips

After reading many reviews, first time trying - decided to follow the following tips: - I split the bag into two, the small buckets hold half a bag easily (see photos) - then measured out half the water required into two buckets, cold water - mixed half the small bucket, then after started, the other half until a nice 'creamy milkshake' type consistency - I went to high end of suggested amount of water right away - poured bucket one, then mixed up the second - first bucket started to level out when second bucket was poured - decided I would need the third bucket, a half bag, and poured, by the time the third bucket was poured it was already getting a bit thicker to work with so ended at that - feathered the edges with my hand, spreading outward to get as thin as I could at edges - back end, once the material is thick enough leveled out very nicely, as it gets to the front where I tried to feather out, not as smooth - so clearly levels when it has enough depth to find its way and settle smoothly it will - I did very little spreading with the brush as there was enough of a dip in floor to allow the material to level itself, as I poured directly onto areas needed and spread out as I was pouring - just worked out well enough so this is my result for doing by myself if it is clumpy, not a creamy milkshake consistency, add some more water - do NOT put on floor if it is not smooth / creamy while mixing - this based on research and seeing photos of those who claim product didn't work This worked for me, so hopefully for you Next time, next phase, likely mix all three buckets at once, easy to separate bags in half to work with, but have all three mixed at same time, likely save a couple minutes and make it easier to work with to spread ... but for a first time user of this product, this is what worked for me 4 hours later, starting to harden up and looks pretty good! - how it holds up over time, shall see - but application, worked well for me to get a smooth surface

I recommend with the caveat

This product has a very specific and strict water ratio. If you mix it to the manufacturers recommendations, it is not really self level. It doesn’t self level any more than pancake batter so if you’re trying to get a feather edge, you have to manually create it, which defeats the process of self leveling. I mixed it thick and I mixed it thin. Of course the thin will crack the thick will not self level. Overall, it’s an interesting product but plan on bringing some masonry skills to the table.

Beads up, solidify before leveling.

Pouring INSIDE the "wet edge" (with multiple bucket loads) is more than just a good suggestion, else the surface could (and probably will) solidify with meniscuses (wave crests) going this way and that. Sanding, leaves marks and is hard. The product beads up, over high points on the concrete, after a few minutes so you either keep an eye on the surface or repair it later. You can mix up fractional amounts to effect surface repairs if you plan on staining it later...because it will leave marks.

Shouldn’t be called self leveling

This stuff pretty much laid right where it was poured. Did not level at all. Worked it with squeegee but didn’t help. Horrible finish Had to work it with a trowel to get it semi smooth. Gonna spend tomorrow grinding this garbage to a usable finish.
