A:  With good conditions (i.e. enough light, good watering) and some work, luck, and perhaps creativity on your part, you'll see your first bit of green peeking up from the dirt after 7-14 days, and can start making your first small harvest 4-5 weeks after that.

            Answer This Question

A:  Yes they are grown, we got it a couple months ago. Our mint plant has been slow but the other two are thriving!

            by|Nov 13, 2020

A:  You get seeds for your plant (I thought they would be small starters). Also, no guarantee you will get ALL three seed packets. I only got two. was very disappointed. Too late to return as the entire kit was opened.

              by|Apr 30, 2021

                A:  No they didn't

                by|Jun 11, 2021

A:  The kit comes with the cans of dirt, seed packets, and instructions. You'll need to grow those seeds into plants yourself from scratch. With good conditions (and a little bit of work, luck, and perhaps creativity!) you should be ready to make your first small harvest after 6 weeks.

A:  Hi. Thank you for reaching out. The kit that you were asking about has basil as one of the plants that you can grow, however, we don't currently have basil available by itself. If you have any other questions or concerns please let us know!

                          Sprouting!!!
I’m so excited! I see sprouts! I do not have a green thumb! These kits make it so easy for me to share and teach growing our own foods with my son. We also love the tomato plant kit! The original kit I was gifted didn’t grow. I reached out to the team here and they sent a replacement! So far, it’s looking good! Exercise customer service! Awesome hands on kits!

Really an awesome kit! 30 days in, my cilantro and basil are going strong. Got the first signs of green peeking up out of the soil on day 9-10. I'm so excited to make a first harvest, probably in just a few weeks' more time. Mint never grew, but I was able to transplant an extra basil plant into it (during thinning, as there's max. 3 basil/mint plants allowed per can) and it's starting to grow in that can, so I'm not upset. Since I'm a tough critic, I'm subtracting 1 star for that and for the fertilizer choice: in very small letters (boo) on the outer box, it notes that in the cans are any of a number of natural fertilizers, including bat guano and cow manure. I'd have appreciated a shorter list and the information being on the listing and more prominent on the box. Watering is simple with a teaspoon and tablespoon measurer, but you need to consider light before you purchase these. I'm in an apartment building in New York and have north-facing sunlight exposure for ~2 hours/day and south-facing sunlight exposure for ~5 hours/day right now, resulting in about 7 hours of direct windowsill sunlight exposure on these herb babies every sunny day (which has been about 2/3 of days here). It's _just_ enough, supplemented by some direct light from a 60W equiv. Philips LED about a foot above a few hours a day. It's not an ideal grow light; if I had any less sunlight than I do now, I'd need a proper LED grow light about 6 inches above these herbs. It's a lot of work moving them between sides of the apartment and along the windowsill to get the most possible sunlight, but it's worth it for me. If you don't have enough light, your herbs will not grow. Make sure to have your lighting all set before you plant the seeds! Back to the Roots sells a grow light on their website; there are many LED options designed to be grow lights and some CFLs will work too, plus you'll need a fixture that can hold the bulb and get it nice and close to the herbs. Growing from seed is harder and requires more light than growing from seedling, as with a bit too little light you'll get "leggy" plants that are weak from stretching too much towards the light. All that said, I'm really happy with this seed growing kit; it was my first time growing anything indoors and it's made me want to grow more things :) Pictured: herbs 30 days after planting. tl;dr: awesome herb kit, just make sure you have *plenty of light* on your windowsill or the dedication required to get your herb babies enough by moving them from room-to-room and setting up a grow light situation.

Back to the Roots. Basil, Cilantro and Mint Herb Garden. The three pack kit says 100% guaranteed to grow. I really enjoy the idea of having fresh herbs for my cooking. I received mine 15 day ago and was very excited. After following instructions on planting the seeds, placing in sunny window and watering two tablespoons each day for 7-14 days all I have is wet soil. I have great house plants so not sure what I did wrong. I plan to try again.

I really hope this grows! The set is a perfect little size for windowsills, and would make a great housewarming gift. Everything you need is in the box. Comes with three paint can type containers, each a little larger than a quart, and everything else you need, from dirt to seeds. It actually uses biochar, which is supposed to prevent over watering, and the whole thing is 100% guaranteed to grow, so it's worth a shot! Comes with a little adult coloring book/recipe book/instructions, which is fun. Everything looks just as it does in the pictures on the box. Our daughter is going to be in charge of these plants, since we do a lot of gardening. Personally, I love that it comes with mint, basil, and cilantro. I'm one of the people that thinks that cilantro tastes like soap, so I never have it on hand, so everyone else will be glad to get their hands on some. A nice little variety that most adults would use, so it'a nice selection. Only reason it didn't get 5 stars is because it hasn't grown yet, but it's early, and like I mentioned, it has a guarantee on the box, so I would assume it'll be taken care of if they don't.

wouldn't really know because when they arrived, the package contained bed bug spray and bed bug laundry detergent and as this was the 3rd order in just a few weeks that I was sent the wrong item - and had to deal with returns and credits I've decided to no longer order from Home Depot
