I have been a contractor for years and do not run into many employees that have as much professionalism, service, and care for a customer. Not a reflection of the store or the employees. Home Depot asked for a review of an online purchase and subsequent discount due to poor customer service. Placing this review anywhere I am asked to provide a review. Email sent to customercare@homedepot.com is below. FYI, the response was that this email account was not monitored. I would like to provide this email to document my recent experience with Home Depot. On December 10, 2020 I decided to purchase a standup freezer from the Home Depot website. As I started to place my order through the Home Depot website, the delivery date indicated December 23, 2020. I thought that was unusual since no other stores in the area could get the appliance for a couple months. I called the local store to double check that one was either in the store or on the way to confirm the short delivery time frame. There were none in the store but was assured that the delivery date was correct and that the computer system is typically accurate. On December 14, 2020 I received a notice that the delivery date had been moved back to January 15, 2021. Not a big deal but certainly not what I was promised. The delivery was made on January 15, 2021. I inspected the outside and inside for damage and did not notice anything. As we were taking the tape and cleaning the inside as recommended, I noticed the light would not come on. As I was checking the seals down on my hands and knees, I noticed that the bottom shelf in the door was bent. I checked the seal and it looked good so thought this would be acceptable. As I started to check on why the light was not working, I realized the magnet at the bottom of the door was also pushed out of place. This misalignment results in the fridge not knowing if the door is open or closed thus affecting the light and the alarms. I could not fix this issue. That evening I called the number the delivery guys provided if there was an issue discovered within the first 48 hours. I remained on hold for 30 minutes and eventually left a message. A call was returned an hour later. They were not able to help and provided a Home Depot number to call. I called the number and after about 30-45 minutes of going through the automated process was able to get a hold of someone to help. After 10 minutes with that person it was decided that I needed to be transferred to another department. 10 minutes at the new department they transferred me again. The third person started to have answers to questions before they were asked. It was obvious that I was sent back to the first department. Eventually I was able to get a replacement ordered with a delivery date of January 22, 2021. The 22nd came and went without contact. On, January 25th, I was able to use the online chat feature to determine the second delivery date would be February 19, 2021, another 4 weeks of waiting. On February 18th I received an automated phone call stating that the delivery would be delayed due to the weather and that I would receive another phone call in a couple days to schedule a revised delivery date. Today, February 22nd, I have not received a phone call. I reached out to the Home Depot via the online chat feature. It appears the rescheduled delivery date is now March 6th. Another couple week delay. I have asked multiple times for an email address to send this email to and have been told multiple times that there is no such address. Today, the associate I was texting with was able to provide me with this email. I appreciate that she was able to do this but and once again disappointed that it took so long to get pointed in the right direction. I can understand and do appreciate that there are delays outside the control of the Home Depot. However, this is no excuse for the lack of communication and customer service. Had I received the appropriate contacts in a timely manner regarding the delays and re-scheduling there would have been no need for this email. I have also been told that the delivery is through a third party and is outside the control of your associates. That I would need to call them to leave feedback to get updates. I again understand that their scheduling is outside the control of the Home Depot but the Home Depot has discretion over who they hire for delivery. I would encourage you review their customer services practices too because passing the buck to someone you hire is just as bad as failing on your own. At this point, I have made another call to local appliance stores who now have models in stock. I am considering cancelling this order and paying more for a local company that can deliver without the headaches and who will be able to follow through on customer service. I thought that I would give the Home Depot another chance to earn my business but as has been the case in the past, the Home Depot once again shows that there is no concern or priority for customer service. Regardless of whether I cancel this order, I will be taking my future business elsewhere, large or small. I will go out of my way and pay more for better customer service than has been demonstrated. I have no doubt that I can “Get More Done” by avoiding the headaches and wasted time dealing with the Home Depot.
