How does truck rental work?

Stop by the Rental Center at your nearest Home Depot to see what trucks or vans you can rent. If you'd like confirmation before you drive there, call first to inquire about renting a Load 'N Go flatbed truck, pickup truck, or cargo van. Penske moving van rentals and moving trucks have different rules. You could also check out our truck rental page to see if what you need is offered at your local store.

Can I rent a truck for a week?

Rent a moving van or truck for as long as you need it. For short trips, 75 minutes might be enough time. Otherwise, consider renting it by the week or the day, depending on how long your project is. Be sure to factor in the drive to and from the store, as you'll need to bring it back to the same store you rented it from. Penske moving truck rentals allow round-trip options as well as one-way options, and they have different terms. Be sure to read the terms and conditions before you decide on a van.

Do I need to refill the rental truck with gas?

Yes, please fill up the truck before you return it. Make a note of the original fuel level when you receive the truck, and fill it with enough gas to match that same level. If you don't, you'll have to pay a penalty known as the fuel replacement charge.

Can I rent a truck with only a driver's license?

No, you also need to be 21 or older, in addition to holding a valid driver's license. Depending on your state, you might require car insurance, as well as a deposit or credit card hold, too. Please bring your credit card for Home Depot truck rentals, as we don't accept cash. Penske moving truck rentals have different requirements.
