How does truck rental work?
Stop by your local Rental Center to see what trucks are available for rent. If you'd like confirmation before you drive there, call first to inquire about renting a Load 'N Go flatbed truck, cargo van, or pickup truck. Penske moving van rentals and moving trucks have different rules. You could also check out our truck rental page to see if the vehicle you need is offered at your store.
Can I choose how long to rent a truck?
Rent a moving van or truck for as long as you need it. For short trips, 75 minutes may be plenty. Otherwise, consider renting it by the week or the day, depending on how long your project is. Remember to factor in the drive between the job site and the store, as you must bring it back to the same store where you rented it. Penske moving truck rentals allow one-way rentals as well as round-trip options, and they have different terms. Be sure to read the terms and conditions before you choose a truck.
Should I refill the rental truck before I bring it back?
Yes, please fill up the truck before you return it. Match the amount of gas that was in the tank when you got the rental. If you don't, you'll have to pay a penalty known as the fuel replacement charge.
Do I just need a driver's license to rent a truck?
No, you also need to be 21 or older, in addition to holding a valid driver's license. Depending on your state, you may require car insurance, as well as a deposit or credit card hold, too. We don't accept cash for Home Depot truck rentals, so please bring your credit card. Penske moving truck rentals have different requirements.
