Can I rent a van?
Stop by the Rental Center at your nearest Home Depot to see what trucks are available for rent. If you'd like to be sure of what's in stock, call first to inquire about renting a Load 'N Go pickup truck, cargo van, or flatbed truck. Penske moving van rentals and moving trucks have different rules. You may also read our truck rental page to see if what you need is carried at your local store.
Can I rent a truck for a few hours?
Rent a pickup truck, van, or flatbed truck for as long as you need it. For short trips, 75 minutes might be plenty. Otherwise, consider renting it by the day or the week, depending on the length of your project. Don't forget to factor in the drive to and from the store, as you must bring it back to the same store you rented it from. Penske moving truck rentals allow one-way rentals as well as round-trip options, and they have different terms. Make sure to read the contract before selecting a van.
Do I need to refill the rental truck with gas?
Yes, please fill up the truck before you bring it back. Match the amount of gas that was in the tank when you got the rental. When you don't refill the rental vehicle, you'll have to pay a penalty known as the fuel replacement charge.
Do I just need a driver's license to rent a truck?
No, you also need to be 21 or older, in addition to holding a valid driver's license. Depending on your state, you might require car insurance, as well as a deposit or credit card hold, too. Please bring your credit card for Home Depot truck rentals, as we don't accept cash. Penske moving truck rentals have different requirements.
