How can I rent a truck?
Stop by the Rental Center at your nearest Home Depot to see what trucks are available for rent. If you'd like confirmation before you drive there, call first to inquire about renting a Load 'N Go pickup truck, flatbed truck, or cargo van. Penske moving truck rentals and moving vans have different rules. You may also read our truck rental page to see if the vehicle you need is at your store.
How long can I rent a truck?
Rent a moving van or truck for as long as you need it. For short trips, 75 minutes may be plenty. Otherwise, consider renting it by the week or the day, depending on the length of your project. Don't forget to factor in the drive to and from the store, as you'll need to bring it back to the same store you rented it from. Penske moving truck rentals allow round-trip options as well as one-way options, and they have different terms. Make sure to read the contract and terms and conditions before choosing a van.
Should I refill the rental truck before I bring it back?
Yes, please fill up the truck before you bring it back. Match the level of gas that was in the tank when you received the rental. When you don't refill the rental truck, you'll be hit with a penalty known as the fuel replacement charge.
Can I rent a truck with only a driver's license?
No, you must hold a valid driver's license and be over the age of 21. Depending on your state, you may require car insurance, as well as a credit card hold or a deposit, too. We don't accept cash for Home Depot truck rentals, so please bring your credit card. Penske moving truck rentals have different requirements, so read those if you plan to rent a Penske truck.
