How do I rent tools and trucks?
Stop by the Rental Center at your nearest Home Depot to see what's available. If you want confirmation before you drive there, call first to inquire about a tool or truck. Can I rent a tool for an hour?
Tool rentals start at four hour time slots. It depends on how long you'd like to rent them. Small home improvement projects may only require a rental for a few hours, and we can accommodate large projects as well. You've got options to rent tools by the day, month, or week, too. If you need it longer than anticipated, call the Rental Center to arrange an extension and avoid late fees.
When do I return the tools?
You're welcome to return the tools early if you complete your project ahead of schedule, but on-time works, too. Just make sure to bring them back by the deadline listed on your rental paperwork. Please clean off any grime and dust from the tool as well. If you need them longer, call your rental center to see if you can extend your rental period.
Can I rent a truck for a few hours?
Rent a truck or moving van for as long as you need it. For short trips, 75 minutes may be plenty. Otherwise, consider renting it by the day or the week, depending on how long your project is. Don't forget to factor in the drive between the store and the job site, as you'll need to bring it back to the same store where you rented it. Penske moving truck rentals allow one-way rentals as well as round-trip options, and they have different terms. Be sure to read the contract and terms and conditions before you decide on a vehicle.
Should I refill the rental truck before I bring it back?
Yes, please fill up the truck before you return it. Match the level of gas that was in the tank when you received the rental. If you don't, you'll have to pay a penalty known as the fuel replacement charge.
Can I rent a truck with only a driver's license?
No, you must hold a valid driver's license and be over the age of 21. Depending on your state, you might require car insurance, as well as a deposit or credit card hold, too. We don't accept cash for Home Depot truck rentals, so please bring your credit card. Penske moving truck rentals have different requirements, so read those if you plan to rent a Penske truck.
