How can I rent a truck?
Stop by your local Rental Center to see which trucks or vans you can rent. If you'd like confirmation before you drive there, call first to inquire about renting a Load 'N Go flatbed truck, pickup truck, or cargo van. Penske moving van rentals and moving trucks have different rules. You may also check out our truck rental page to see if what you need is available at your store.
Can I rent a truck for a few hours?
Rent a pickup truck, van, or flatbed truck for as long as you need it. For short trips, 75 minutes might be plenty. Otherwise, consider renting it by the day or the week, depending on how long your project is. Don't forget to factor in the drive to and from the store, as you must bring it back to the same store you rented it from. Penske moving truck rentals allow one-way rentals as well as round-trip options, and they have different terms. Make sure to read the contract before selecting a van.
Should I refill the rental truck before I bring it back?
Yes, please fill up the truck before you return it. Match the level of gas that was in the tank when you received the rental. If you don't, you'll have to pay a penalty known as the fuel replacement charge.
Can I rent a truck with only a driver's license?
No, you also need to be 21 or older, in addition to holding a valid driver's license. Depending on your state, you might require car insurance, as well as a deposit or credit card hold, too. Please bring your credit card for Home Depot truck rentals, as we don't accept cash. Penske moving truck rentals have different requirements, so read those if you plan to rent a Penske truck.
