Great product solved the issue of peeling paint on cedar siding.

its a sealer plasticizer, it soaks into dry / dry rot wood using it as a skeleton to patch or prime over. water based, cleans very easy.

Seemed to do the job and coverage went a very long way

holds minor non-adherent dried paint to the substrate. helps prevent lifting of subsequent coats of paint/primer. this product does the job, but still requires prior removal of the old, flaking chips of neglected surfaces. use only as a first coat, after chip removal. primer and putty, if needed can be used afterwards. Highly recommended.

Goes on a little thin but you are supposed to work it into any cracks so I think that is an advantage. Required 2 coats for my application. "Exterior wood walls of medium sized workshop.". Followed by a topcoat of quality laytex paint. Sealed really well and made the paint gon on much smoother.

So far so good. Too early to determine true effectivemess.

If you have an old house, this is amazing!!! It evens out the paint and sticks to the wood. A great product!!!

While looking at the information for this product I was confused about the amount per container. It reads 1qt and is a pack of 6, but is one container from the pack 1qt, or does the whole pack of 6 add up to 1qt? I am just a little confused by the wording due to me being a high school student, but I would be grateful if someone could explain.

Seems to have locked down peeling ceiling pain after proper prep of removing flaky loose peeling bits. Label say not intended for paint peel due to water; most paint peels due to excessive moisture. With the water problem fixed and totally dry, it seems to have been the fix for me.

Did exactly what it advertised. I'd buy again.

The case of 4 gallons arrived sealed in a box within a box which is a good thing as it didn’t leak. When I opened the inner box the lid to one of the gallons was off, and the lids to two other gallons were loose. The peel stop had poured out all over the inner box and had hardened. What was left in the one can was unusable. There appears to be multiple failings here. The lids were not secured properly at the factory. The shipper must not have followed the “this end up” clearly printed on the outer box. More distressing is the fact that this product is not stocked on the shelves of any Home Depots I checked and is only sold online in quantities of 4 gallon cases forcing people to buy more than they need.

put it on a building that was built in the 30, looks great. will try it on the other two building.

Good product, used several times.

I bought a house and found the previous owners painted latex right over all the old oil paint. Scraped off what I could, but the square footage of what was painted was huge, and I couldn't imagine scraping off every last bit of that paint. Sanded the oil they was showing and painted on peel stop. Waited 24 hours, came back and could still easily scrape the peel stop off the sanded oil surface, and it did nothing to prevent the latex from continuing to peel off the oil. Oh well. Worth a try. Home Depot gave me a full refund. Zinsser BIN primer is what worked for me instead, FYI for those in a similar predicament.

There are two versions of this stuff : this stuff and the triple-thick. This is the thinner of the two, and if your situation is bad, you'll want to start with this. Basically what happens when you use this is that capillary action sucks this stuff under the edges of flaking paint, and glues the edges down. Of course you'll want to scrape off all loose paint to begin with, but in the back of your mind, you know that the old paint that's left is vulnerable too, so this thinner product is what to use to start with. But it won't fill gaps or splits in the wood, so so you'll want to follow up with triple thick if along with flaking paint, you have that problem too.

Several years ago we used this product on some sections of a cottage we were repainting. It really works. Those areas where Peel Stop was used AFTER scraping, scrubbing, and scraping again, and BEFORE painting have held up much longer. Since then I have looked unsuccessfully for this product, until someone suggested I check online. Delighted to have "found" it once again.
